That dear Steemian noobs is a "loan" from Steemit to allow you to be a wonderful community member.
You have about 29 days to get your Steem Power above 50 or face being unable to participate in the account without either purchasing BTC to transfer to Steem Power or having help from other members of the community.
And if you get to the point where you cannot do anything, some cannot not just send you STEEM or SBD -- it has to be a direct transfer Steem Power.
Do not let this happen to you.
Either buy Steem before your 20th day or be a more active participant in the community.

Well that's a kick in the keester...
I've been trying to get my fiat money into crypto and have hit brick walls at every turn.
I've been engaging with the comunity as much as I can and have joined steemian and am trying to get in with whaleshares and the like. I am currating, commenting, resteeming, producing OC posts (not many to be honest, as I'm a perfectionist and its hard for me to call something "done" I have 6 projects in the pipeline curently lol), and I've gained almost 50 followers so I guess I'm doing something right...
but, I've been here for almost 2 weeks and only have 8SP (granted I moved almost 1Steem out so I could jump into bitshares... oops).
I had no idea that there was a doomsday clock.
oh well, if I fall off the map, thats why lol definitely not giving up though.

When I first started and was sort of blocked on what to post, I went back through my Facebook posts and picked a couple that I felt were worthwhile, spruced them up and posted them here. I'm a perfectionist too, but sometimes you just have to get in there and post it. Use the #minnowsunite so those trying to help the minnows can see your posts and other minnows like me can see them as well :)
I also follow the folks involved in the Minnow Support Project and comment thoughtfully on their posts. I write fiction so I spend time in the fiction section upvoting good content and commenting, commenting, commenting. I never, ever ask for an up vote or a follow back, and I always, always try to craft a comment so that it brings value to the discussion and demonstrates that I really read the post.
Three weeks in I have a little over 120 followers. I think most of those come from the Introduceyourself new feed. I don't go spam generic "Welcome, follow me I'll follow you!" but rather I read the post, comment in a way that makes it clear I read the post and give a personalized tip from one noob to another, like maybe they only used the IY tag but they posted beautiful photographs and mentioned they will be sharing photography here, so I advise that they can edit to add "photography" as a tag.
I've sent you 15 SBD because either I don't have the ability yet to transfer steem power directly or I don't have the knowhow. But you should be able to power up if you aren't totes broke yet ;)

I think what holds me back is that on the blockchain my work is on there forever so if I get a fact wrong or if I misquote someone my blunder is there forever. You are 100% right, however, I do need to just hit the post button lol :)

Also agree about the begging, it doesn't look good. If you want upvotes, make good content and GROW your following. Engage with them. In time it will happen.

I suggest you resteem a bunch of good articles after the 30 minutes mark and pray they pay over the next few day.

see the number above the ($145) -- that $15 is your actual SP. You need to get that up before your 28 or 29 day.

I looked in your wallet -- yes, that is all yours. It would not benefit for you to power down. Take time to vote and develop good comments that make folks want to vote on your comment.
i know what steem power and all that stuff is, but why do i have to be above 50 SP?

It is why I am such a big shouter in chat about commenting, voting on good posts, and resteeming great content -- especially after the 30 minute mark.
Are you sure its below 50? After I delegated my SP elsewhere, I was still able to post and comment with only 10 SP in my account. (I originally couldn't after I delegated because I delegated everything I had, I had to get 10 SP for my self to be able to post and comment again).
There have been several hardforks since that.... :) but yes, currently we are seeing an influx of noobs come in and not be able to do anything without 50 SP
Nope, I delegated after HF 18. I wonder if this was changed by a non hardfork update. I don't think it would have anything to do with the blockchain.
Not delegated... to another... we are talking about the loan that Steemit gives users when they first start and calls it delegated.

If you do it before 15 minute then curation reward is 0. 16 to 29 minute 50% curation. 30 on 100% but there can be a few other weird rules like the amount of folks that already voted...

Kind of, but if you pay attention, you learn that if are not one of the first 50 to 100 votes, then that later incentive goes away...

Okay the quickest way is to click the arrow and select market and you need to buy the steem on the left column....
Then once it moves up to the top row, you will click the arrow and select power up to move it back into steem power.

hmmm.. the arrow to the right of the 14.977 that drops down the options of Power Down or Buy?
I could be reading it wrong but it looks like it's taking me to a Bitcoin to Steem Power option and I don't have a Bitcoin wallet yet?

What should happen when there is 50?
Below 50 and folks have not been able to perform actions in steemit
Redeeming rewards is not the same as powering down. Redeeming actually increases your Steem Power; it "banks" the SP (as well as the Steem Dollars) that you've earned through posting and curation. (Why Steemit makes you click that button instead of just automatically adding it to your SP balance, I have no idea.)
i agree, but she had not been moving the redeem sbd into her steem power.... this is the part that many folks miss. and many others are powering down...if you look into their wallets.
