Steemit needs a PR person / team (my opinion, do you agree?)
So a few of you saw my post and a few by others about @steemit starting to power down roughly 72 MILLION Steem Power and a few posts by others which are linked below. Many others are now investigating and trying to find out what's going on but this could easily be resolved by a short informative post by the steemit team.

The huge power down is seeming to create a bit of FUD within the community and we just want to know what's going on so we can sleep a little better at night, especially those of us who have put substantial amounts of our own money into this platform and powered up.
And here's the proof of the power down beginning and underway (I think I already showed this in the last post but might as well put it here so you don't have to go look at that one too).
This is not the first time that something potentially unnerving to steemit users / investors has happened and we have had no official communication from the steemit inc team until days later. These types of things can cause uncertainty and sometimes outright panic among users and investors which we DON'T need.
Remember the dDOS attacks?
They didn't say anything for days until @ned released this short (and kind of lacking in detail in my opinion) post about the situation.

Very cordial and informative right? I'll let you the reader be the judge of that.
No offense to the man or the team, I have the utmost respect and I appreciate all the work he and they have put into this platform. I am truly grateful for this group of people and @ned.
So they have done a great job on the tech side but technical people are usually not good at interacting with the public or responding to critical situations.
Side note: I'm an engineer and I'll be the first to admit that communicating with the average joe about confusing or concerning matters this is a skill that I am lacking in as well. That's why I sit in a closed office and don't deal with people / customers outside the company. I design machines and my company has employees who handle public relations.
So getting to my point
There's obviously plenty of capital to put to good use and I think hiring a PR specialist is a no-brainer.

Like him or not, one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates, agrees on the importance of good PR strategy.
This person's job role would be dedicated to keeping us up to date on why things like the huge power down are happening (before they start happening and freak people out). This could prevent unnecessary fear, uncertainty, and doubt among steemit users and eliminate problems / worries before they even manifest in people's minds.

So do I have anyone in agreement that it would be nice to be informed and have potentially troubling things like the huge power down and the dDOS attacks and what the plan is explained to us (when, how, and why things like this are being done, what's the goal, the vision, etc)?
Please feel free to comment. I'm about to go to work so it will take me til later today to respond but I welcome your ideas and feedback.

Yeah you've got a point there. Maybe that will come at a later time as you said.
I'm new here, so forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but say Steem did hire a PR person to speak as the corporate "voice," per say. Does that go against the core idea of decentralization?
Good question. I don't think so but some may say otherwise. I think it would just serve to calm people when things like dDOS attacks, site outages, 72 Million SP power downs by the team, etc happen and there's no explanation for days or weeks at a time.
In the six months I've been here there's been a few occasions when steemit inc could have done us all a favor and take a few minutes to write a simple post explaining what's going on when things don't seem on the up and up or in times when a lot of users are uncertain about something that's going on with the platform.
Maybe I should have said they should hire someone to do status updates on what's going on, not like a traditional PR person or team to actively promote and do other things. We already have some good promoters for steemit and they're doing it voluntarily.
Yeah I think steemit needs a group focusing on PR activities. We need to make this platform great to skyrocket the value to the moon:)
Yes that would be a good thing, I think. Really I just want a bare bones team or just one person who's good at communicating when problems arise with the platform or there's things going on that make users / investors nervous and there's not a peep out of the team about whatever it is that's going on.
I agree with you you are right visit my blog
Interesting postings and certainly many who like.
Hopefully the next post is more interesting and useful.
Something that works is difficult and tired but if you enjoy it it will feel safe and calm .... spirit and spirit
