Steemit Needs To Get Ready For Mass AdaptionsteemCreated with Sketch.

So, for anyone who has been around Steemit for at least a few days can see the potential in the platform and that it potentially can be bigger than youtube. But even-though Steemit is going mainstream sooner than it predicted, it needs to put its foot to the floor with some of these changes because it just takes 1 major youtuber to open Pandora's Box.

  1. User Traffic - Many services completely underestimate the amount of Traffic they they get the first couple of Months. @ned or any of the Steemit crew, what you are experiencing now is nothing. Mass adoption of this platform can happen overnight, and if you aren't ready, the website might be consistently down or very slow to load

  2. UI -See my article here detaining Features Steemit Should Have Click Here

  3. Account Creation - Although I talked about it in #2, this is really important to bring up. Steemit creators basically know that when they have accounts created and setup within mins of the request, the flood gates are open. From what I understand, they are trying to put down the framework before doing this. The problem is, if they wait to long, if it starts going main stream before they want it to, it will significantly turn off users

  4. Freedom of Speech vs Censorship - This is a big one. Ideally, people will go away from youtube and come to Steemit to have free speech, but there will come a time when groups that are considered "Hate Groups" post unflattering material. Steemit has to be prepared for this and how they will handle it (IE Sex Traffickers, Child Po.rn, Terrorist Groups, ext...). I'm not necessarily talking censorship, but what would they do if people posted that kind of stuff

  5. Transparency - From what I have been able to tell, the Steemit Staff has been open about what they have been doing with every change. But for each change, they have to find a way to notify content creators as even though they may post something, creators may not see it. The worst case would be that they pull a "Youtube" and alienate users

What do you think? Is there Items I missed? Let me know below.

I agree woth ypu fpr the most part on this mass adoption issue where they have to increase their server capacity to be able to have more users. But on the other hand, maybe that's not an issue. Just like Reddit, Steemit is only embedding videos and pictures from YouTube and other websites. They are not really keeping them anywhere which means that all that they need storage for is account info and text. And those things barely take up any space at all. I believe that other things like their UI and user friendliness are things that should be of higher priority. Or what do you think?

Nice post, really the price it is now even at over $2 is a steal. People will look back and think man if I had just bought loads then.

Steemit is a blogger community in it's own original kind first of all. It doesn't need to be "new youtube" or "new facebook" because it doesn't follow the same path. Mine guess is that this community is going to atract intellectuals, freedom speakers, creative people, artists and be some sort of modern day-online renaissance Florence where people gather to share ideas, spread ideas, learn from them. Steemit doesn't need a million users posting their own pictures or what are they eating now like Face and Insta users do. Steemit should be a social media treasure to keep from kinds of profanity we witness on many other social media. Youtubers have Youtube. Why Steemians can't have Steemit? You will simply have to choose or spam this website with linking. This is my opinion. As of nsfw content... well, reporting and moderators will need to go into action, like everywhere else. Forward Steemit!

As for your point 4 : 'Freedom of Speech vs Censorship'

The point of the decentralized nature of STEEMIT is that no one tells anyone else what they can and can't do. No one is the censor and everyone is the censor.

By which I mean that if an article is supported by many members it will gain prominence and make money, if it's something the STEEMIT community doesn't particularly like..it'll (hopefully) sink like a stone.

You would hope so, but I'm thinking more of "Terrorist Groups" or child predators type of think. That's what worries me...

I still have more faith in humanity left than I've lost.
Hang in there :-)

Any illegal content, from what I understand, will not be permitted.
Everything else is pretty much fair game and the community will decide what they want to support.

That Actually Makes Sense and Helps. What Happens When They Do It?

Really Nice post

I am leaving Youtube just for that reason, censorship...

I have allways watched YouTube and now I must say I go on steem even moor now

We are still in the early adopter phase.

Being able to directly purchase steem / steem power with FIAT

that would be an interesting dynamic there too.

Leftists are heavily into censorship. Steemit has to get a handle on this crowd whom just can't resist their DNA to stifle dissent. It's vital for Steemit's growth.

As a card carrying "leftist" I disagree with you. I'm not interested in stifling dissent by any means. Pointing out that an argument is based on prejudiced logic is Not stifling. If someone has the freedom to make a prejudiced argument, then I certainly have the freedom to label that argument as such.

Yea, it's always the Righties who go around causing problems and acting like it's everyone else. It's been a problem with mankind for quite some time. No social network is going to stop that problem. What I'd like is to be able to block who can interact with me. I'm not a fan of reporting, or censorship either. I want people to be able to express what they want to express. But I also want to be able to choose who gets to read what I'm expressing, as I am not interested in talking to everyone. With blogs that I own, I'm able to decide who can comment on my website. Same deal with FB, and IG; even Twitter; (I wish they'd all remove their report buttons although I get wanting to protect the community from child porn and sex trafficking etc)

IF anything that's the only real change I'd like to see on this Platform @cryptowallet - as far as the left/right stuff; in truth there are Extremist on Both sides of the fence who always go too far with their desire to exhort control over others. It'd be silly to think that problem is partisan. Most problems in humanity, are non-partisan.

Wanting to tell other people what to do - is a human thing.

Great post @Cryptowallet - good discussion here -- hope you all have a great evening.

Good, consider yourself the silent minority in the world of liberalism.

I do, and will continue to consider myself exactly as I please.

I'm not say censor anything. I'm saying they need to be prepared when someone says something that could be against the law (child porn) and how they would respond as the media will spin the story

You've been watching waaaay too much Fox "News".

Censorship is garbage and seams like so old world and we dont need a world with censorship
