STEEM loses 40% vs BTC in last 30 days, sinks to 31st on coinmarketcap as STEEM value also sinks vs Alt Coins.
Flag wars are back. Some people attract the attention of a whale and are able to get $100 per post over an extended period, primarily due to a single whale. They start to feel they are entitled to $3000 per month for their blogging efforts.
And then one other whale calls foul. Calls this raping the rewards pool for $100 per post with limited readership, so let's play flag wars.
Are you currently benefiting from a relationship with a whale or a dolphin where no matter how lame your post is. No matter how poor the grammar or thoughtfulness or value, you get a large $$ automated BOT vote for whatever crap you are blathering about?
Are you then becoming part of the problem? Can you become part of the solution?
Newbies who have been on the site for one day or one week or even a few months become dismayed with the chaos and leave for greener pastures.
Is this what anarchy looks like?
STEEM continues to steadily lose ground against BOTH BTC and ALL OTHER ALTCOINS as the question continue to be raised - how to monetize STEEM?
Becomes increasingly urgent that steemit and STEEM leadership snap out of the coma and start delivering. On promises and on leadership.
Deliver on communities. And SMTs. And pay more attention to steemit.com. Show the barest minimum of basic decency and politeness for the existing users.
Time is starting to run out on the STEEM crew.
Technology can be brutal. TECHNOLOGY IS BRUTAL.
If you are not first and innovating and continuing to amaze customers on daily basis, it is easy to be overtaken by a challenger that has better focus, or better ideas, or better funding, or better leadership.
An honest report from the tiniest minnow that ever existed.

@davebrewer,
I saw Steem drop a bit, but to me it will rise and we can see it at the top again! Anyway nice analysis of it!
Cheers~
It might rise up again.
What is your theory on why people are going to start investing more fiat into STEEM to cause the price to start rising?
Time and it will kick. There is the massive innovation of SMT that will take Steem on a rocket journey as soon as the word spreads once released in approx 2-3 months. The test net for it is imminent meaning steem could kick on tech reports of that as well. Meanwhile smaller changes like fast sign up (I've lost several People I'd persuaded to join myself ) and 'steemit sub-communities' which will take the steemit platform up a level away from beta. I bought Into steem early March after a massive prolonged downturn. I thought no one in the market believes in this, but it's groundbreaking. It's still at 20X from those days 8-9 months ago! Patience! Great time to invest in steem now!? 2018 will kick for Steem. Meanwhile can't agree more about voting, whales... and abuse of the use of downvoting. Yes the site needs to be kept clean, but not by over zealous self appointed steemit 'policemen' who I've seen do crazy things. Worst was someone I came across who passive aggressively threatened with their weighty steem power to flatten a post that said "nice post" because "it offered no value to steemit." I checked out the guy who said "nice post" and he posts regular long interesting posts with good photos... in his language, Indonesian. I follow him now and enjoy his posts. I wonder how many of us can say "nice post" in Indonesian?
Steem is not what is used to be . Now it’s all about payouts and not blogging and engaging . We need to spread awareness of the platform itself which seemed to have slowed down . Maybe when the SMTs come out then it will increase the price of Steem
SMTs are way out in the future I believe. "Communities" is supposed to happen sooner.
If communities doesn't pull STEEM out of the price dive, it may crash into the ground at $0 before we ever see SMTs.
Do you recall the Whale Wars?
I do...I was there.
I didn't like it much but it worked.
Perhaps we should form our OWN whale?
The Tribunal Whale.
Create an account, delegate MASSIVE amounts of steem power to it
Then when a rouge whale flags a minnow...or anyone else.
Check with Cheetah.
If the minnow has NOT been plagiarizing.
Flag the abusing whale to oblivion.
A community response.
Dev action not required.
i agree with you, some whales now use their powers to bully those they don't like
Do I agree with you, yes. But if you are going to point out a problem, offer a solution. No one wants to micromanage a growing community so the solution has to be in the way voting works.
Step one in any solution is consensus on the diagnosis of the issue. We are a long way from consensus on the problem, which means ascribing a solution may be premature.
Yeah shits kinda pathetic, so many shit posts.
Retards just posting HD Desktop pics from google as if we're all too retarded to google them ourselves.
People just posting famous poems with a stolen image and then closing with, 'upvote subscribe follow!!!'.
Like anyone gives a crap about their shit content.
But the you see the few with the whales backing them.
One thing I think would significantly curb this trend would be to add a redditesque side tab for topics that would stipulate rules such as: Only Original Content
Either that or just fork all the retards out of the chain every couple of months, maybe even make a fantasy league out of it. You can achieve anything with a fantasy league.
There are bots that try to point out when content is copied as opposed to original.
I've never seen any reports on their effectiveness.
The bot's a certainly helpful, but yeah, people clearly don't seems to be detered. I think I'm going to just write a bot that reposts these peoples posts as if they were the bots original posts.
I'm a minnow newb and have learned much from posts like these. Followed.
Diversity your reading. Lots of interesting views on steemit
steem having a real tough and rough time :/
One more thing.
that EVERYONE can do.
vote for the witnesses.
Too often, people are afraid to tell it how it is. You are not one of those people. These are hard truths, but ones that needed spoken.
About a month after I joined Steemit, I saw the price of steem break $2, and was excited and hopeful for the future. The last few months have not been kind to our little crypto, though. I still believe it's got a lot to do with HF19, but the flag wars and entitlement don't help things.
I've written a post speaking about my dismay at the current state of things, and was of course accused of spreading FUD and just making things worse, but these things need to be talked about. If someone else comes along with an innovative way to manage this crazy "paid social media" idea, it's going to be hard for Steemit to survive.
The steemit religion spoken of by @ned cannot tolerate views that are too extremely heretical
One other issue is bot armies. I took a couple week break from authoring with very limited curating/commenting, and somehow gained more than 20 followers.
Depressing to be more liked when you are not writing than when you are. LOL
I have the same experience regularly
