Looking for a true Steemer

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I know that many of us tried to spread the word of Steemit to people around.

You probably told to your family and friends that they should try. You tried to explain them the whole idea and the system. And they were just looking at you as you are telling nonsense. Some of us were successful in finding new Steemers but the most of the people that you tried to recruit were uninterested. I don't look that as a failure. Steemit is not for everybody. We don't want more inactive users, we have bots for that.

So, if you tell to your cousin or your friend that they should try the Steemit, it is very nice of you. You are unselfish and you care about community. But could they make good Steemers?

Steemit has about 110 000 users. But that is just a number. A lot of these accounts are not humans at all. They are programmed bots that upvote our posts to make it more visible ant to take as much of curation rewards as they can. There are good and bad sides of bots. It is nice to see a large number of upvotes 30 minutes after you posted your text. But yesterday I got 264 upvotes and there is no way for me to check all of them to know which are bots and which aren't.

I was trying to spread a word of Steemit to masses.

I know a lot of people so I tried to present Steemit to them. I don't know is that because of my attitude or their skepticism, but the most of theme were look ate me as I am a boring priest of some new sect or religion.

My opinion is that bots are not problem, inactive users are.

I found some theories and researches that suggest that there is no more than 12 000 active users on Steemit.

Well, that's shame. But let's take that number as a real to make some calculations. Imagine that only 10% of active users want and can find one person who could be good and quality new Steemer in next seven days. That means that we would be richer for 1 200 active users in seven days.

Well, I see new Steemers on the network every day and I am glad because of that.

I will always support newbies and I am proud when I see their progress. It is a hard period when you just started and until you got your first 500 of Steem Power. But now it is much easier than it was 3 months ago. And a lot of these new Steemers are quitters. Or they don't know how this works. A lot of them are not even interested in learning about Steemit and they don't care about any advice. Or they are disappointed in the price of Steem and they don't undestand the system. From time to time I see a quality new Steemer who wants to write, learn and be the part of our community by upvoting and commenting.

So, instead of recruiting your friends and family, you should look for a true Steemer.

Your friends and family will probably reject your idea, or they will SIGN UP, be on the network for few days, then disappear. You can't assume that someone will be a good Steemer just because he is your friend or a member of your family. You should try to find a real person for that.

One good and active Steemer is more useful to this community than 20 passers. And that is my new mission in next seven days. To find a good Steemer!

What makes a good Steemer?

Well, we are all individuals and we are all different so we cannot make a a real definition of a true Steemer. But what kind of person would I recruit. These are the performances of the person that I am looking for:

01. That person must be friendly. Steemit is a friendly network, so I want to find a person who will be great supporter. That person will also be active in commenting, upvoting and following. It would be nice if that person could have more users to follow than followers.

02. She or he must have something interesting to write about. It could be a person with a lot of life experience or just a person with interesting ideas and thoughts. And must be ready to share them to others. Knowledge of English language would also be nice.

03. I am not looking for a greedy person who thinks about money all the time. A good Steemer should be humble and very happy when she/he makes a dollar. That kind of person thinks about the future.

04. She or he must be communicative and willing to participate in community's actions. That kind of person meets new people easily and makes friendships. We have a lot of Steemers with a true positive energy but there is never enough of that type of people.

05. I don't want to recruit any quitter, skeptic or person with a bad energy or a bad attitude. After all, if I recruit a person on Steemit, I will feel responsible for that person.

06. It is good for a new Steemer to know something about cryptocurrencies but that is not necessary because you can learn a lot about it if you reading posts about that on Steemit.

07. I don't want to make a live bot for myself. That kind of person has her/his own brain and makes decisions. She/he knows where are the limits and difference between right and wrong.

I don't think that I ask for too much. So I will take next seven days to find a new true Steemer. I only wish that this post inspired someone to do the same.

I told a number of my friends and out of them, I've persuaded 2 very active users, 4 or 5 mildly active and interested users and a further handful of those who joined but haven't done much (anything) yet.

the same! i was recruited more than 3 months ago by @moon32walker, i hope that he is satisfied ;)

I knew it from the start that you could be a great steemian and so you are. It just takes time to get here where we are, staying persistent and positive is the way to go.

Thank you bro

Looking at your Rep, I would imagine he is :)

It is admirable that you have tried to reach out to people. We have a large social media following, and we also have a hard time getting people to come over. We have friends in the Philippines, Indonesia, and India, and most of them have never checked Steemit out. You would think that someone would be willing to try since they would do very well with home country currency transfer. Just keep trying. Upvoted and followed :-)

We have also upvoted and followed for future posts. Thank for letting us know.

told a kid I was working with just the other day about it.. he had heard about bitcoin but still not very familiar with crypto so I told him a bit more on it and told him to check out steemit...

i told a lot of people but they still don't get it! but i recruited my cousin @snowman123 and now he doesn't have time for being active...

i tried to tell some family but they said it sounded like a scam... smdh
i guess they are just going to miss out!
i am going to order a tshirt soon as well because i think that is the best way to promote the site.. ppl will see it and ask what's steemit.com?? and then that's your chance to advertise! :)

nice idea, i should try that too

I am not a Bot for sure.
