To Bot Or Not To Bot, That Is The Question ---> 5 SBI Giveaway & Why I'm Supporting #SteemBasicIncome! <Celebrating 200 Days On STEEMIT>

Bots

It was not that long into my Steemit experience that the botting started to occur. The arguments ensued about whether or not botting was taking away from the reward pool and only putting money into the pockets of the creators. There was a time that I didn't use bots, but then I started once someone showed me how to do it.

The type of botting I do is usually only $3-$6 SBD, and I do not consider this an over-botting number. Some of us feel that to bot a little bit as a tool is not a bad thing, and we can live with this small number. There are quite a few folks I know of that bot upwards of $200 per post and many of them are crap posts, at least in my opinion. A few times my internet connection got jammed up and my entire wallet emptied out into a damn bot. That was not a good week, especially when STEEM/SBD went down so my payout was so much lower. A loss.

You might be wondering where am I going with this? Well, this past week one of my good friends @eonwarped wrote a great post (as he usually does) entitled, We are the Prisoners, and that got me to thinking about my progress here on Steemit. Fortunately, I was adopted through the Taskmaster initiative with @preparedwombat and graduated. Within six months time I made it to 1,000 SP, and with a lot of hard work accomplished an almost unsurmountable feat, or at least what I thought at the time.

After graduation, I started to invest in a lot of groups that helped boost noobs and the community. I've made a lot of changes in this area and I'm still trying to find those that work. If groups tend to be on the unfriendly or rude side, I see no point in continuing my support. If the group is helping those in dire need or truly showing how they are helping the community, that is where I'm trying to send my support.

Steem Basic Income

Mind you, I'm still a small fish swimming in a big fish tank. It's not like I have thousands to invest yet. With the way things are going you never know, I may get there soon enough. But back to bots. It was suggested to me to stop using bots and try #steembasicincome (SBI) as it not only helps me with shares, it will help someone else too, and help the community. Well this all sounds good and all, but I wanted numbers.

Interestingly, I was given my first SBI when I was a noob even though I didn't know what it was and it was by one of my first admirer's that has either left Steemit or this was a second account. I still miss him dearly @tt-dogg is and always will be my Boo! So over the last six months I've accumulated a total of 11 shares through contests and gifts. I needed more information so I dug further.

The last couple of days I've been running some numbers and asking questions to those who have used SBI to a great extent, like @dynamicgreentk who I admire greatly for his work on Steemit. He's helping so many people from many cultures and third world countries. Not only guiding with teachings but encouraging by example. I even talked to the creator of SBI @josephsavage who just had a baby, so congrats to him on his new bundle of joy!

So, in my conversation with the both men I received the following information. For example, if someone holds 500 shares the total return is 1.25 STU that converts to:

18-20% curation reward, so roughly 0.50 USD in STEEM and 0.50 SBD, which is actually more
well, at current premiums, that does come out to about 1.25 per post, or $12.50 per week. That's about 1 STEEM per share per year with full upvote bonus.

This may not be the same return as botting, but a step in the direction I'd like to take my Steemit experience. Yes I stillfeel that if one bot's in low amounts it does have a return. If someone is over-botting then they are taking away from the reward pool and taking advantage, and something I am not in support of. This is just my opinion and consistently working with the bots and researching other's wallets and botting techniques.

The other thing to remember in all of this in regards to SBI is that (even in their full disclosure) reports there will be a slight upset with HF20 and HF21. The following is what will occur, as stated by @josephsavage:

The impact from HF20 to be minimal, the way that we do our upvotes ignores tags, so communities changes won't have any impact. we will look into whether we want to support our own tag with additional support, but most likely will not be once we get the rest of our systems in place, we will launch something new that gives SBI members a 'community support score' and provides a little extra support to the people that are building and supporting communities.

The above statement makes a lot of sense and brought comfort to my soul. He continued with:

The biggest change will be in the way curation rewards are handled. most of our members have their auto-votes at 0 minutes, which means our author reward will decline by 25% after HF20 goes live once there is an actual release date for HF20 we will start an information campaign to get our biggest supporters onto 15 minute upvotes instead of 0, so they can get some actual curation from that instead of it just being lost.

The above words were encouraging and at least gave me ease, since at least I know this guy is REAL and thinking ahead. He goes on:

HF21 will probably have a bigger impact, but depends a lot on whether SMT's with oracles create their own 'walled gardens' or just condensers that trend their own tokens it depends on what SMT's actually come out and gain prominence the biggest pre-sale now is appics, and they claim that they will be doing all new accounts (no existing accounts) my plan for SMT's is to run regular analysis on which SMT's our membership base are buying most heavily and analyze how their distro models would work with SBI my plan for SMT's is to run regular analysis on which SMT's our membership base are buying most heavily and analyze how their distro models would work with SBI wherever it makes sense, we would build a stake in that SMT so that SBI upvotes confer STEEM and tokens.

With all of my questions, I got answers and if anyone knows me, they know I can drill someone pretty hard. Well Savage came up with logical and coherent answers straightaway. So I thank him for all of this information, and now he can refer to this blog-post for anyone who has the same questions about SBI. Just kidding!

Some pertinent information I should include is that if you upvote at 100% that will double your SBI, and if you delegate to @steembasicincome you will receive 1 SBI per every 20 SP you delegate.

With these new calculations I am now up to 32 SBI.

According to many groups I'm interacting with SBI is one of the best ways to support the Steemit community without raping the rewards pool and maintain healthy relationships. I'm inclined to agree.

Giveaway

This leads me to the Giveaway I am now holding for those that wish to receive 1 SBI each, which in turn helps me to wean myself from botting!

In order for me to get to a number that I am used to as far as getting what I receive on my posts, this means that I will have to invest quite a bit of STEEM and/or win a lot of contests. Hopefully, a little of both.

Rules

This week I will start off with a Raffle the good ole #steemsilvergold way and all you need to do is leave a comment (1 entry) below using the phrase I would love to support Eagle Spirit's bot weaning project and receive 1 SBI in the process. I look at comments since I am a top engager on Steemit, so of course making me laugh will give you an up.

If you would like to upvote (1 entry) and resteem (1 entry) you are more than welcome to but it is not mandatory. If you choose to do so then you will receive more entries into the Raffle.

Only one person will win 1 SBI but you can receive 3 entries for doing all of the above. Five winners will be announced at payout of this post. Good luck!!

Let me study more to know about steembasicincome. I would love to support and join

excellent, i encourage the research and sbi enrollment.

i myself have used a bot, maybe 5 times total since i started 10 months ago. i believe they are the scourge of society, and are making the owners of them rich (vp costs nothing, so they are making the sbd bank )

hehe "scourge" well AI maybe but just a baby bot? really?
i hear ya tho, i know a lot of ppl who feel the same way ... many of whom i love a lot! :)

I would love to support Eagle Spirit's bot weaning project and receive 1 SBI in the process.

I too would like to stop using bots and have a more organic income of steem. My account is growing on its own but I've been hitting the bots a little too hard I think. I'm also learning how to control my VP more so as not to short those I wish to support. I realized I was only getting half the value of my upvotes. Thanks for this great post!

@movement19 yay thank you so much and i appreciate the kind support. we need an AA for botting hehe
i agree, bc i am doing the same thing. i stopped upvoting my own votes for asher's league and that gave me more funds to play with too. but still, bc of steem lowering and prices drop im doing triple the amount to just one person where it was only 1, and also that dumb "dust." eeekkk

LMAO!!! Great Job, Burdy… You just let "Da Man" speak for himself and did not try and analyze the numbers ;) PROPS!!! Good Write-up.

💜

I agree, we should use this as rewards in the MBC, Great Idea you had!

I would love to support Eagle Spirit's bot weaning project and receive 1 SBI in the process.

But i am busy... So No...

I can't support you alone, i will call my friends to join the support

@sparrowbernard yikes, i'm not sure i got you in this time. i'll let you know when the next one comes around. lol

This post finally crossed my radar, and following your logic here I figured out the disconnect between your 32 and what I have in the sheet.

The upvote bonus is based on hitting the upvote target over the past 28 days, so turning on the auto-voter does not immediately give you a full bonus. Your upvote % has not reached 100% of our posts over rolling 28 days yet, which is why you don't have your 32 Adjusted shares (what we call the resulting share count you used in your post) yet. As your upvote consistency builds, your upvote bonus builds, and then you will have the 32 adjusted shares. (More, actually.)

Sweeheeettt thanks! I'm glad you came to confirm and I featured this post in a "pimp your post" feature so it will continue to gain momentum. I really appreciate the clarity so I can be on track and give accurate info. Thanks again! :)

I appreciate your effort to get the accurate information out.
