BOOKING trips for celebrities, boarding the world's most expensive super yachts and flying first class on Concorde have all been in a day's work for a highflying trio who have joined a West Kirby store.

New manager Karyn Hughes and colleagues Paula Dryden and Melanie Jonas have collectively spent almost 90 years working in the travel industry and are now part of the team at Hays Travel in The Crescent, West Kirby, which opened its doors at the end of last year.

Melanie has booked flights and breaks for some big star names throughout her 26-year career, including premier league footballers, top DJs and American singing superstar Jocelyn Brown.

The mum-of-two from Prenton said: "I had to book the travel and accommodation for Jocelyn Brown when she came over for a performance at a nightclub in Liverpool.

"What's great about working at Hays Travel is that it doesn't matter whether you are a celebrity booking a luxury holiday or someone spending a few hundred pounds, it's extremely customer driven here and the aim is always to book the best possible holiday for the individual customer."

Well known in the town, she previously worked for Co-operative Travel, now owned by Thomas Cook, which closed down at the beginning of May.

She has been joined at Hays Travel West Kirby by former Co-operative Travel colleague Paula Dryden.

Paula, a mother-of-two from Moreton, is a former nutritionist and personal trainer who took up a career in travel while she lived in South Africa.

Her husband's career later took her to Mallorca where he set up a highly specialized marine carpentry business and worked on some of the world's grandest super yachts - some of which Paula went aboard.

Paula, who has been in the travel industry for close to 30 years, said: "He worked on some amazing yachts for some of the world's richest people.

"They were obviously very luxurious and they would have things like a cinema on board, helicopter landing pads, large storage areas at the back of the boats to store things like jet skis and other leisure toys.
