The Myth About Steemit Payouts! And The Ultimate Guide.
Hello dear Steemians!
By now every one of you must have notice this reward box which is set by default to the 50%/50%.
Many of you must have wondered what is all this about, and which one is the most profitable!
You can choose among three options for your post payout which are :
- 50%/50%(default) : Half of your post payout will be in Steem Dollars and the other half will be in Steem Power.
- Power Up 100% : Your entire payout will be in Steem Power.
- Decline Payout : You won't receive a payout.
Below is a list of Questions that beginners may have, and their Answers. Hopes this proves to be helpful.
- When will I get my payout?
You can click on your payout and it will tell you in how many days you'll receive it. Generally, all payouts occur 7 days after the post was made.
- Why does my payout keeps changing its value?
The value of steem/steem dollar fluctuates with time, this is why your payout can sometimes increase and decrease.
Furthermore let's take for example a post whose payout is currently worth $5. But then, many other posts suddenly become highly-upvoted. The money to pay those popular posts needs to come from somewhere, so a portion of your post's value is reallocated to these newly-popular posts. Now your post may only be worth $4.50.
- My post reward was $5 but I only got 2$. How did this happen?
The dollar figure you see at the bottom of your post or comment is not the amount of your payout. 75% of the rewards goes to the author(you) and the other 25% goes to the curators(people who upvoted your post).
For example, if a post payout is $10, you will get rewards worth $7.5 and the $2.5 will go to the curators.
Now you can notice I said you will get rewards worth $7.5 and not 7.5 Steem Dollars! This brings us to our next question!
- If I was supposed to receive $7.5, why did I only receive 3.75 Steem Dollars and 0.672 Steem Power???
Many of you, specially the beginners might wonder that as the default post reward is 50%/50% so they would be receiving 3.75 Steem Dollars and 3.75 Steem Power.
However this is not the case!
$7.5 divided by 2 is $3.75 so you'll get 3.75 Steem Dollars. And as for the 3.75 which goes for Steem Power, the actual price of 1 STEEM is $5.58 which varies with time!
So the total Steem Power you get is 3.75 divided by 5.58(the actual price of Steem) which is equal to 0.672. Thus you will receive 0.672 Steem Power!
