My New Curation Goals
As you may know i was absent for quite a while. During this time a lot of things happened with the most important one being the new Hardfork. That's why i had to read a bunch of posts explaining what's the aftermath and generally speaking what changed!
Now, i am not a person that pays a lot of attention to the tech oriented stuff because probably i won't even understand half of it, so i focus on more to "the point" matters. What caught my eye literally in every single hardfork related post was that everyone was talking about the curation and how the new implementations are for the best.
Apparently, the rewards for each post changed from 75/25 to 50/50 leading people to stop using bots (thank god) and start digging into the pile of new everyday posts to "invest" their upvotes. In other words manual curation is back on track!
Everyone now seems to be about quality again, whole curation teams and trails focus on manual curation as well as big players like orcas and whales. Also, the period which we can vote to maximize our rewards changed from 15 minutes to 5. That means no more endless tabs waiting for those 15 minutes to pass or simply for those who use autoving services just change it to 5 minutes!
As someone who likes to do everything manually i am really excited with this sudden turn. I don't know where this will end up but what i know is that more quality posts will be rewarded for their efforts, more quality authors will be discovered and stronger relationships due to interaction will be formed!
New Curation Goals
As per my new curation goals i was referring to my title i will inform you shortly, don't be impatient. Yesterday, i unfollowed a couple of accounts due to inactivity or because i realized we had no interaction whatsoever. That was the first wave of destruction that costed roughly 50-60 lives. :P From hmm ... i think 169 followers i am down to 119 and as i see it, in the next few days the number will drop even more to 100! (i am a killing machine :P)
At first i thought to just make a post asking my other active followers and i dare to say friends to suggest me other people to follow. While this is a great idea that i have done in the past and proved successful, i think due to the new hardfork i will change my way!
What i am going to do is just searching and curating new and interesting posts. Sadly, because my vote now isn't worth that much (0.02$ with close to 100% of my voting power) and i already have a bunch of active people that i follow, i will search and upvote a minimum of 2 new posts per day+ they will receive my unique comments! Given how much voting power i have left i may cast more votes or maybe i will be so fascinated by these new authors that i'll find and increase once again the list of people that i follow. Who knows?
Let's see what i am gonna find!

Manual curation isn't back on track actually. With the new non-linear reward curve your vote is worth less when upvoting smaller accounts and it earns less curation when upvoting posts that you know won't at least get 5$+ payouts. All this while you have to work your way through a lot of Actift spam posts in order to find something good. So the name of the game right now is to put the big guys on an auto-upvote list if you want to get better returns. The good side is that the new system along with the fee downvotes helps to fight abuse. Still a long way to go.
yeah i completely agree with that. I remember say it when people first started to use Actifit but NOBODY LISTENED :P
Generally speaking i agree with you, what i can't understand though is that while this is a fact, many people and curation trails started to manually curate and searching for actual quality accounts no matter the rewards. Ofc a whole bunch of people that only cares about the money aspect either they openly admitted or not do the exact thing you talked about. Hopefully this change will turn for better but i am still cautious!

I hope I made it through the first cut, and I mostly do manual curation as well and havent found the imp[act of the Hardfork as bad as many were expecting
hahaha you will definitely make the second one as well! Oddly, i expected that the impact would be pretty disastrous before the hf and now everything seems better.
