The "Business You" vs "The REAL YOU" - should there be a separation in social media?steemCreated with Sketch.

Hey everyone. This has been on my mind for years.

The concept of Branding and creating an "image" on social media.

Is this necessary? Or even HEALTHY?

The Problem (as I see it)

Most want to be as successful as possible. And for most, success (at first) only means money. In social media, Steemit included, it's how to get as popular as fast as possible and to grow your audience.

When I started my Steemit journey, I watched everyone else make a lot of money from posts. So naturally I saw what they were doing and tried to copy them. Copy their formatting, their style, their titles, etc.

That may work, for a time, but it's exhausting and isn't the solution.

The Solution - YOU ARE your own brand

You don't need to be any different than yourself. Sounds super hippy, but it's the truth. I can fake it for a bit, pretend I'm someone I'm not, maybe make some money...

... but it's not the solution for a long term audience.

Some days I wake up feeling completely uninspired.

Solution? - Make a post about it.

Some days I feel like I have a lot on my mind.

Solution? - Write about THAT!

I feel if we keep blogging, making videos, writing about what's on our minds AND HEARTS, that's the solution. That is what will make Steemit not just a money grab, but a place to actually share meaningful things about ourselves, struggles we're dealing with, and how we're getting through life.

Just my thoughts for the day.

Peace,

Aaron
