Steeming from Starbucks - Why STEEM is the perfect currency for the Coffee giant
Trending today is @Kingscrown 's acrticle on how Starbucks Wants to Accept Cryptocurrencies - Lets Get STEEM There!. Seeing as I just spent last night sitting at a Starbucks steeming from my laptop, it struck me as a genius idea and one that would have more benefits for both STEEM and Starbucks than I initially thought.

A social currency is the perfect fit
Social media is the new battleground for companies like Starbucks who not only sell coffee but sell the experience of a social meeting place for people. How many times per day do you think a conversation via SMS or on Facebook messenger ends with "shall we meet at ... for a coffee?". Many! By implementing STEEM, people who have these conversations on a STEEM powered app could be recommended Starbucks as a place where they can go and use the currency powering the application they are using.
Furthermore, as STEEM continues to grow, companies will naturally want to be seen by people using the new social media apps, including STEEM. So being a default option or recommendation will give a competitive advantage to any restaurant or café that makes it convenient to the users.
On top of that, STEEM will enable many cool ways to integrate payments with a social media. Similar to how the Chinese mega-app WeChat allows users to make online purchases directly from an image of a product, implementing STEEM could provide a convenient way for people planning a meeting to do everything from the app.
The marketing value
If you've just paid for your Starbucks coffee with STEEM, are you more likely to take a picture of you being there and sharing it with the community than if you paid with fiat? Of course you are. Just looking at Instagram, you can see that users are already sharing millions of images from their visits to Starbucks.
Searching for "starbucks" on Instagram already shows that tens of millions of people use #starbucks and #starbuckscoffee, as well as numerous country-specific tags
A Starbucks-pay app offering customers to pay with STEEM or SBDs could even add a feature in the app that gives the user the option to "tell your friends you're at Starbucks", or "upload an image using #starbucks and get 10% discount on a brownie!".
They could also build new business models with STEEM to gain more revenue
By requiring the image to be shared from Starbuck's own app to give a STEEM discount, they could put themselves as beneficiaries and thus earn also on people sharing pictures from their stores. A win-win as they get more marketing, sell more coffee and earn a passive income on people's media.
Other business models could surely be applied as well.
So YES! Let's show Starbucks how attractive STEEM can be!
I would also like to encourage everyone to go to https://ideas.starbucks.com and submit that they would LOVE for Starbucks to add STEEM and Steem Dollar payment options! Just do it!
Then maybe when we go to Starbucks in the future we can look back at what we did together today and know that it was thanks to us that we now get to use our favorite crypto to pay for our coffee, and taking the value of STEEM to the Moon at the same time.
Please let me know if you have other ideas for how Starbucks could benefit you and also win themselves by using STEEM. We really could use a strong pitch-deck that we can fire away at companies like them going forward to force them to look into STEEM more closely.

Sounds like a great idea, although we'd need to be more attractive as a mean of payment, like having a wallet app that allows for easy transactions between people (or businesses). Think the good old qr code. And a better dev community/documentation so it's painless to go with steem.
But I agree, steem would be a great fit with its lighting fast feeless transactions.
We could even imagine a system where you could give upvotes to starbucks's posts and get free coupons if you don't remove your vote until payout. This would effectively allow you to pay for cofee with upvotes, the dream of every steemian ;)
Yup! For small transactions, STEEM is currently the best there is.
And people are basically incentivized to market Starbucks to their friends when they go there with company to pay back the expenses of having a coffee :P

The coffee for upvotes might not work, since there are way too many people with votes not even high enough to pay for said drinks and they can always remove vote within 7 days or other spiteful people can downvote.
But I have to agree Steem and SBD would be amazing if we get a mobile app that supports scanning QR code and then does the transfer to a Starbucks Steem Wallet.

Also, it can be worked on other companies who accept payment with cryptocurrency. I have read an article about the lots of company like amazon etc will accept cryptocurrency in 2018

Hello my dear friend @fredrikaa very good topic, it seems very interesting, the truth is that large franchises such as starbucks is recognized worldwide we should propose and talk about how beneficial it can be to receive payment for a coffee with steem or sbd, in addition to that we can help them to publicize their trade, inviting all of us who use the Steem to visit the place with their friends, have a coffee and be able to pay for it with their favorite cryptocurrency. If I may, I can take it one step more.
I see that you mention that as an ide Starbucks can give a 10% discount if people make a post about that they are sitting at Starbucks and are paying with STEEM.
What about that Starbucks are going the full way, making their own SMT omg the STEEM blockchain, and you can get coin/cashback when you buy a coffee? In that way customers can buy with STEEM or Starbucks own SMT and get a token back for doing so.
Starbucks will get more STEEM that they can power up and make their value of STEEM grow, while their customers can enjoy a heavily reduced payment on their coffee.
This was just a thought from me, what do you think of this?
I can see many benefits for a lot of large companies to get their own SMT.
Like we are doing at @Onebitnews. We are giving cash back to those that read and comment our articles and as we did in the last issue, a huge cash back to five people that bought a t-shirt.
I actually think they got more STEEM back than they paid for the t-shirt.

the way cryptocurrency is growing and also the rapid growth of statement, steem and sbd's are forcing yourself to convert our whole life transaction to steem and sbd.
Submited as well. That would be something to see ... Starbucks utilize STEEM as a payment method... Excited on all fronts for that. Buy my coffee with it but can you also imagine the bump it would get..man!
