RE: Steemit: The Curation Leagues - SBD and Delegation Prizes! Sponsored by @carlgnash and @paulag!

in #steemit7 years ago

OMG @abh12345. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!

I was so happy to see that I had moved up the table but then I saw the delegation. Thank you soooooo much. It couldn't have come at a better time.

I had been considering buying Steem so I could upvote myself. I wanted to see where I was in your League first, just out of interest. But I'm not really ready to invest the amount In Steem I would have to, in order for it to make a really big difference.

So, even before I saw your post, I had decided to go back to what I was enjoying in the early days, engaging and commenting. I'm still doing that obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be in your league but I've also been posting 4 times a day in order to earn as much as possible.

I spend time on all my posts so it takes a lot of energy and sometimes it's not as enjoyable as it could be because I'm pushing myself to do it.

Looking at the table I see that the 3 people above me have posted less so I'm going to go back to posting when I feel inspired to and not because I'm concerned I won't meet my 4 post target. Phew! What a relief! 😊

Now I am free to buy Steem or not without feeling the pressure to do so because I feel I'm falling behind.

I'm really looking forward to how this weeks goes.

Thanks again, so much, for your support!

Let the games begin . . . again! 💙

Hi!

Well done for placing and winning a prize, it sounds like it was needed! :)

I had been considering buying Steem so I could upvote myself.

Please don't do this, even if you vote yourself and only yourself you are unlikely to see a profit.

Thank you for taking part, and good luck next time!

I was never intending to upvote only myself @ash12345. It's not really a rational thing, more an emotional one. I used a bot for a couple of weeks, just 1 SBD, but it made my earnings look better even though, I discovered, in reality they weren't!

I don't really understand the earnings part so i was taking things at face value and ignoring the 75% bit. Even so, it's not about the money for me. It's more about being competitive and wanting things to be fair.

Part of my journey here is exploring those parts of myself. Some times I feel a sense of panic about getting left behind. Sometimes I'm just happily posting away. It is what it is and I don't want to pretend that I'm anyone other than who I am, warts and all.

And, as you say, this prize was perfectly timed.

Let's see what next week brings. 😍

Yes this sounds like a good approach to me - definitely don't force the posts out, time is generally much better spend in the comments for the first few months - it could well be longer than that with the increased numbers we have now.

Good luck!

I have now noted that it could be longer with the increased numbers @abh12345. Three months seemed to be a magic figure that is banded around a lot. It will be three months for me next week although I am not exactly sure what I expect to happen at this magic time anyway!

But, if whatever it is does not happen, I will now know why! 😁 😁 😁

@gillianpierce, congrats!
In my experience, forcing yourself to write 4 times a day is not the way to go. I tried it myself, and it spoiled all the fun I had, plus it didn’t have a good effect on the quality of my articles. I took a step back and now I only write when I’m inspired and feel like writing. That feels so much better. :0)

Thanks @simplymike. I agree.

I made a vlog this morning which I have just posted where I said i was only going to post when I felt inspired from now on.

To be honest, the vast majority of the posts I made last week, I enjoyed doing, so it will interesting to see just how much there will be this week. I just want to move away from this panic of being left behind! 😊

I can relate to that feeling. Every once in a while I’ve got it too.
Bit then I realize that I shouldn’t ‘force’ myself to try to keep up. If I do, i think my passion for this platform and its people will eventually fade. I keep reminding myself that this is my game, and I should play it at my own pace to keep it fun.. :0)

Agreed. I don't think forcing ourselves to do anything is ever a good idea.

If we can't play the game in our own way and have fun whilst doing it, what's the point? Easy to forget at times though an get sidetracked by the figures or what other people are doing. 😊

Congrats! You mentioned that people had posted less than you, so I checked. I was actually a little embarrassed at how little I've been posting. You're motivating me to step up my game. Although, I have been working on posts offline in draft form, they haven't made it to the masses. Also, real life has been a distraction, but I need to be more focused. Good for you for your discipline.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure that was the point I was making @themanwithnoname. 😁

In fact, seeing that people had made fewer posts than I have encouraged me to make fewer, so really the opposite of what you're feeling.

Seems to me like you're doing brilliantly doing what you're doing!

Different strokes for different folks I suppose! 💙

Yeah, I took something else from what you were saying, but at least it inspired me! :)

I spend a lot of time talking with people. I should probably work on my articles first, so when they're out of the way, I don't have to worry about spending too much time commenting. At least it appears to be paying off. :)

Who says you should work on your articles first? 😍

You're obviously making a fantastic contribution by commenting. Maybe you're a natural networker, encourager and supporter first and a writer second.

Perhaps you've got it exactly right!

It's so easy to limit ourselves with arbitrary rules we simply make up.

Just a thought! 😁

A post or 3 a week is good, but as you can see, not essential to place high in the league.

I see the post as a call for engagement, but nothing has happened as far as interaction is concerned until the first comment arrives. You are likely to pick up more points in league 2, commenting but definitely try to get some material out there for all the contacts you've made engaging to come and take a look at :)

Cheers!

Congratulations @gillianpearce you did really well!!! Its is very good to see how awesome you are doing ... Keep it up and I love that you got a nice delegation from Asher!!! You will use it wisely I'm sure :)

Thank you very much @davemccoy. I'm not really sure how to use the delegation other than being more generous with my upvotes. I hope that's a good use. I'm thinking I'll be able to upvote more people and some with bigger votes without depleting my CP so much which means I'll have more to upvote people with. 😍

I was fortunate enough last week because @abh12345 delegated some to me as well. I've learned to use the manual voting slider on https://steemworld.org, so between that and the delegated sbd, it has made a huge difference in the amount of upvotes I can give :)

I'd be happy to walk you thru learning it if you need me to!

Thanks @lynncoyle1. I'm using the slider on busy.org which has been a huge help in giving more upvotes and managing the amount.

What I'm not sure about however, is how to get the maximum amount out our delegations. Should we be keeping VP above 80% Should we be down to that when we finish for the day? Do you have any insight into that or do you just upvote as much as you can?

Thanks for you help! 💙

For a long time I tried to keep it at 80 or higher, then I switched to 70 or higher, then I let it get way to low and I'm still working on it coming up. My understanding is that it shouldn't get below 80 for maximum effect.

Someone who's doing really well in the leagues said they keep their slider to above 90% now to get maximum effect but they are doing best in curation so maybe it matters more there.

I've tried all sorts of tactics @lynnecoyle1 and have ended up at 25% VP a few times. Now I am able to keep it higher because of using the Busy.org slider and getting the delegation from @abh12345

It feels so good to be able to upvote as and when I want to and not see my VP plummet. Yesterday I gave @drakernoise a 100% upvote for being the first to spot the mistake in my video. It was only 0.05 but it was really fun to do!

haha I know the feeling...it's great!!!

And it would be simply impossible for me to keep my voting power there...I like to use it too much;)

I get a kick out of giving everyone a vote I want to. So I probably give smaller votes from you and spread them around a bit which keeps my VP higher. 😊

Well, well, well! Look at you here @gillianpearce! I guess in life, all things eventually work themselves out, don't they? ;) I'm so glad you entered your name here to track your efforts. I'm hoping all of your self-doubts are completely gone and you can go back to having fun!!! Congratulations on your placement here and getting @abh12345's delegation!! Awesome ;)

You are such an inspiration @lynncoyle1! I'm not sure I agree that all things eventually work themselves out although I suppose they do in one way or another. Just not the way we'd prefer all the time maybe.

I think congratulations are more due to you rather than me, considering that you had 2 days out from Steemit. I know how much time it takes me to keep up with commenting and replying so seeing you stay in the top 10 is truly remarkable. You're a star! 😍

Aww thanks so much @gillianpearce! And yes, that's what I meant about things working out...whether we agree with the future or not, it's coming our way. I take the Buddhist approach to life; the big rock in the middle of the river allowing the water around it, instead of trying to fight the current. So thank you for your congratulations...I do spend most evenings on here, but it's because I enjoy it:)

I just post when I need to, mostly for IFC, or Photo contest, or a new user ask a question, and it needs a post to answer. I have gone 5 days or more without posting, but that's me. Post, comment, engage, and vote, it all makes steemit fun.

Sounds like a great strategy. It's all about finding what works for us an individuals isn't it? So we can be here, contribute and have fun!

IFC stand for "Information Finding Championship. It is a contest that @apolymask started not to long a go. It is open to all players, lots of rounds still to go, we are on Round 13, and it is the biggest payout round to date, along with the post payout prize, there is an addition 25SBD payout. It is a fun game, we (the players) are just having a blast. @apolymask puts out what he is looking for or would like to see, round 13 is shilling, round 12 was water, and one round was the moon. Right now first place is a tie with 3 wins each.
The contest is going to run through July, so still plenty of time for new players. It is really beginning to take off, the contest that is. As you can see with round 13 we are getting a few more sponsors so the round prizes are increasing in payout, hard to tell if that trend will continue or not, but the end prize is 150 I forget if it is steem or sbd, but it's a lot. But and this is the most important thing we are having a blast with it. Sparkly butts, and dancing shoes and celery entries, a heck of a lot of fun. You should visit his page and look if you like fun games.

I’ve been seeing IFC around, and I really like to join, but I keep struggling with the topics.
I should dig in a little deeper and start reading the submitted posts, I guess

He throws out the want, and we throw back what we think he needs our way. Picture, art, story, or celery dancing on the tip of our noses.

Thanks for the information @bashadow. I think I remember coming across that when it was first starting. I don't think I've seen anything about it since though. Glad you're haing fun with it! 😊
