Me, Steemit and Informational Responsibility
Good day to you, Sir World of Steemit!
My Name is Gordon Freeman, if you wanna be real just call me Lenny :-)
The Name is directly stolen from the Half-Life, I use it because I've built some associations around it which I like alot.^^
Boiled down - it is to be a scientist, trying to do the right thing and suddenly finding myself in an hostile world where everything is trying to kill me and all my aquitances die, or become corrupted.
Even though I gave up on that dream like one year ago, something in my inner core just loves that picture of the one girl on my side, fighting together through this struggle as the closest possible 1 on 1 human tandem team - to some day have the peaceful world in friendly collaboration with others.
To engange with more science/philosophy and love :D
o.O! What Sexist!
No actually I've overcome this (am overcoming this^^), I'm glad to welcome everybody no matter of which gender - to join forces and do nothing less then trying to do the right thing - together, for the sake of a non-hostile world for all of us.
...so what do I do here?
I overthink alot, try to be accurate and grasp the realm of all possibilities more then limiting myself to one specific perspective or version or way to go.
Basically I would like to share some parts of that what I consider valuable Information. It helps me processing it when structuredly writing it down, and maybe helps somebody else too.
And I guess it really feels awesome when the thing I have worked on the most - my thoughts - are being appreciated.
One thing regarding steemit is how we deal with information.
So showing my nature and gathering some parts of a context...
It is most common that we have higher prioritization to keep the ego "well up" than society. This means when we distribute Information - it is more about us positioning in the World more then providing useful information something which others might grow of and evolve advantageously for themself.
Probably there even exist a fear to distrubute most helpful information like blueprints, formulas etc. because of competition.
When being copied information does not become lost!
IMHO...
Copyrights and Patent Law should be forgotten about. Actually there is no problem with piracy, nor people stealing intellectual property it is more a selective system artificially holding us in a highly competetive game which creates a problem because a certain information distribution will give you a major advantage or disadvantage.
If we would change the game to a collaborative one - the focus will change more to fair reward and the distribution (copying and sharing) of valuable information is no crime but a most noble act, which should also be rewarded.
Taking Responsibility For the Future - We All Are Needed!
The age of the Internet allows for massive information flow. When we donot take care about what these dynamics may do to us, we will make it much harder for us and a next generation to deal with the world.
Consuming misleading information, which is designed to make one want something specific for a certain person's or company's advantage is nothing which helps us to grow not even that person or company (just economically - which is not important anymore beyond a certain point).
Here on Steemit I will step into the ring the first time in my Life and try my best effort to provide valuable information.
I'd appreciate discussion on content very much.
And I would love to read your version of things.
We all have the responsibility to filter and check the information we consume - as same as part of the responsibility over what effects we may cause when distributing information.
I believe if everybody did in best effort manner - checking each others Ideas, concepts, trying them out and giving honest respectful feedback in a wide social network like Steemit - we could have an environment for mutual growth.
We should reflect on how the Tools should be built and notice new pitfalls.
Like mass occurance of spam or scams just phishing for clicks and fast upvotes - we all need to take care that such behaviour is not profitable - it should be profitable to sit there some more hours doing research and thinking about how to write and structure the post.
The Future could be so bright :-)
Highly valuable scientific information would spread extremely fast, in the process be modeled in various ways, by various perspectives and would also find possible meaningful applications very fast - done sophisticatedly it would completely replace Schools/Universities etc.
In this world people can find exactly those who think alike and learn much faster without having to wrap their heads around alien perspectives which intuitivly feel wrong to them.
My Hope is that a well designed rating system coupled with serious rewards for such valuable behaviours might turn the usage of social media away from "usage as a recreational drug" more to "meaningful work".
As all of it, consuming information/learning, evaluating information and providing information in a well digestable structure really IS meaningful work when taken seriously and very valuable for our future.
