Where Have the Steemians Gone?

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I am online here on Steemit, and I noticed a lot of Steemians stopped posting. In fact, in a lot of group chats I belong to, some members stopped communicating, and eventually leaving those groups.

I remembered the song from Paula Cole called Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?, then it suddenly came to my mind, where have the Steemians gone?

There you can see how some members are just enticed to join the time Steem and SBD prices are on its peak months but they didn't see the big picture of Steemit. Surely enough, the system of Steemit has a lot of flaws to fix in, but when I talked to some members who stopped posting, it's not the main reason why they stopped posting. Some of them heavily relied in a whale who distributes rewards to a lot of members. They focused on the rewards they can receive. Some members are complaining that they don't get support. But remember, many members has nothing when they are starting up, and their reputation starts to build up because of hard work. So if you put on hard work, likewise joining communities, and learning the platform, you will find success on Steemit. Unfortunately, some members relied on those who referred them instead of learning how things work.

Understandably, many of us joined for monetart reasons. However, at the same time it can also be a source of joy. If you are not happy on what you are doing, you'll eventually stop doing it. That seems the case why many has stopped posting.

We cannot generalized that people stopped posting for the same reasons. Of course, some people needs to focus on their health, family, works, or other pursuits, and that's understandable.

The coming months ahead would be something to look forward to on Steemit. SMT is coming, and a lot more. Will those who left coming back? We will see.

Yup true. A lot have stopped posting and i am pretty sure that they will come back when steem prices rise back up. I am as excited on smt's, and am actually more able to at post once daily because of @actifit which rewards tokens to users for their daily activities. 3 birds in 1 shot- i get fit, i get tokens i get steem. 😆😅

Posted using Partiko Android

I am using actifit too, but I never reached 10k. Lol!

Posted using Partiko Android

paanu yung actifit heheheh baka may pag asa pa akong papayat hahahahah

Download yung app sir. Use it on your daily activities including walking. Once you reached 1000 fitness points, you can post it on Steemit. Pag umabot ng 10k, you will receive upvote from actifit and tokens which I think would be available as SMT comes.

So you should jeep moving using the app. Naku, it helped not to stay sedentary. Yun nga lang, madadaya if you just sit and hold your phone, and moving your hand. Still, you have motion and using muscles when moving. Hehe.

Your walking around the house or office is part of your activity.

They start rewarding from 5k steps hehe...
Count Actifit Reward
5,000 to 5,999 20 tokens
6,000 to 6,999 35 tokens
7,000 to 7,999 50 tokens
8,000 to 8,999 65 tokens
9,000 to 9,999 80 tokens
10,000 and above 100 tokens

They also reward good writeups from time to time with bigger upvotes and more tokens.

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh I see. Ngayon ko lang po nalaman. Kaya pala nakareceive ako nung initial post ko dahil umabot ng 6k.

Posted using Partiko Android

Oo. Then may token rewards din ang delegators. Dati 1:1 ang reward but now proportionate. Im not sure sa formula. Haha

Posted using Partiko Android

Actifit. It's a fitness tracking app which the result per day can be posted on Steemit. You cna earn from Steemit, at the same time AFIT tokens which will be undet SMT soon.

Posted using Partiko Android

AFIT tokens (SMT) distributed by actifit. They reward users of their app just by getting active.

Filipino communities are so wide spread I don't know how or why other new members can't get help. We have steemph and I have noticed that there are lots of filipino community in esteem, steempress, etch. Those are the ones that I only know and I know there are more.

For the people who gave up because the prices of steem/sbd are down are not thinking straight or lacking knowledge.
If the prices are down don't spend it yet if you don't need it yet. Just accumulate more steem so when the price go up again you have more steem to sell.

Some say not all people are bloggers. But if you see them on facebook they have so much to say and so much posts. Steemit has evolve, you can now post micro blogs or even just pictures (your selfies sa mga mahilig magselfy) and it is all ok now to do that in steemit.

Young students should be the ones who are into this. As long as they don't expect a "get rich quick" they will benefit from it.

Yes. They join Philippines Discord to pile in their links at the Discord. There are people who are willing to help, but some don't just aks questions.

Another reason is gap arises. Some people insists on journalistic articles or exceptional contents undermining the apps and condensers designed for Steemit.

Others jumped in the bandwagon. Well, it's normal to some people.

Posted using Partiko Android

Yep if they only ask.

Esteem average vote with goodkarma is about $1.20 average I think.
Then there is PAL and steemph (not working lately) upvote bots.
If you use the tag Philippines a possibility of upvote from @surpassinggoogle and @bayanihan
If they use steempress an average vote from them is $2.40 but they will take 15% cut

So yeah look at that possibilities... Not massive dollars but where can you get that specially in Philippines, $1 for just say 30 minutes of your time.

Another reason is gap arises. Some people insists on journalistic articles or exceptional contents undermining the apps and condensers designed for Steemit.

They should not do that because even the witnesses accepted the evolution of the steemit platform. Many DAPPs/APPs made and getting made around the steemit platform which don't focus on "journalistic articles or exceptional contents".

However, it depends on the person giving the vote. If the person think that the post is not worth his / her upvote because its lacking the quality then I guess it is their right to do so.

Yes. There are apps there which gives uovote as well, and earn tokens. Hede.io, actifit, dlike, etc. There are a lot of ways. Some people are either just lazy to explore or unsatisfied.

Regarding those people insisting exceptional contents, they criticize even a post of your daily food photo. I don't mind. It's either they have limited knowledge about Steem or just narrow-minded. Of course, quality content is good, but you don't have to be overly criticizing them.

This is what other people just realized and others have not.

  1. If I post a blog or article with very good quality and with 2000 words, I will get an average upvote of $1.50 if I use esteem. This blog might take me 1 hr to 2 hrs to make.

  2. If I post a picture of my food with 3 or 4 sentences for description and post it with esteem I will get an average upvote of $1.50. This post or blog might take me 5 to 10 minutes to post.

Which one would you rather do, No. 1 or No. 2?

How about this.

  1. If I post a blog or article with very good quality and with 2000 words, I will get an average upvote of $1.50 if I use esteem. This blog might take me 1 hr to 2 hrs to make.

  2. I will post a picture with a short description and will get an upvote of $0.50. This post will only take me 3 minutes to create and post. If I will make 3 of these I already have a total of $1.50

Which one would you rather do? Of course you will pick No. 2.

These are the things that other people are missing or not seeing.

According to my personal experience, yes there are a lot of steemit groups, I am currently in two of them BUT within these groups are groups. If you can follow me, there are groups within these groups and if you are not "one of them", joining the group does nothing to your reputation or upvotes. One main reason why I am not active in steemit is about these groups. Yes, you post your links in there and supposedly help each other by upvoting each other's posts. But since I do not have a lot of SP, I upvote others but none upvotes me. It is not the money that discourages you but seeing there is no support. The "groups" for me are like a facade to say "hey we are helpful" but not all are helped. These did not happen to me once or twice but all the time. I had a talk with one steemian in the same group way long ago and he stopped posting in that group for the same reason. One even left the group since it is pointless and went solo instead since he gets the same support which is nothing.

I believe steemit is a good investment. I am mostly here for @originalworks contest. It doesn't give much but at least you still have some. I am not active with @surpassinggoogle Ulogs since it requires pictures for every post and I don't like posting personal pics. Other than that, there's no support. That is why I think there are a lot who left Steemit. I will be trying another social platform and hope it does better.

I am sorry you had bad experience with the group. I guess not all are the same.

To be honest I did not get a warm welcome when I tried to join the team philippines group a year ago. It felt like they did not want to know me.

I got told off by one Filipina on one of my blog for no reason but found out that she is bi polar.

I also wanted to help my fellow Filipino before, by giving them upvote. This is what I said to the group, follow my blog and upvote and comment on it and I will make sure I will upvote your comment. I was a dolphin before and my upvote is worth $2 at the highest.

However, the groups response was, they just laughed at me and told me I am buying upvote. I could not figure that out, if you upvoted me with $0 value and I upvoted your comment with $1 value then it is at your favor not mine. So after that I did not have much to do with team philippines....

But guess what I am now with steemph and still trying to help my fellow Filipinos, not by upvote anymore because I don't have much money now. But I do my best to help, whether in discord or what not.

So yeah, drop by at discord and we all start over again.

There are a lot of ways sir. In fact I am more active on Discord and Messenger. You can hit me at discord. Sorry, di na kita gaano naalalayan sa Steemit. Nagkaroon na din kasi akong group sa probinsya namin tsaka naging busy.

Oo nga pala, dami ko ng social media apps din. Aside from Steemit, may apat pa. Pero Steemit pa din ang prinary ko. Among the four others, mas nakikita ko na may future ang dalawa.

Tsaka magkakaroon na ng SMT. Alam mo ba na mga apps na makaconnect sa Steem blockchain ay may sariling token, which is another source of income.

Those who were here for monetary reason will come back...that happened already when the price went up. What people don't realise is that...now is the best time to accumulate SP.
Although prioritisation goes on changing steem to fiat...hard work on continuing quality posts pays up, maybe not now but in the future.
Steemit is one great place to invest our time for our future...esp for Filipinos.

Exactly. Accumulating Steem at the moment will bar fruit soon.

Posted using Partiko Android

Let's face the truth that most of the Steemians are only there when Steem is up and it's very unfortunate to others that they really don't know the true meaning of Steemit.

Exactly sir. But they will be coming back soon. I can sense.

Well for me, I also see Steemit as a healthy community in the long run. Nagkawriter's block lang ako these past few weeks kaya hindi ako nakakapagpost but now that I think I am okay now it is time again to post. I don't know, I think for me kung ibebase natin sa rewards I see Steemit as a universal income just like Manna but I see this platform as more than the rewards din kasi you make friends here and it gives you the freedom to unleash your hidden talents and skills di ba? Wala, nakakalungkot lang din na madaming hindi a nagpopost but I hope to NOT be one of them kaya push ko sarili ko this week to be super active again 😊 let's volt in sir @iyanpol12 sa pagiging active hahaha

Tama! And we're one year here na!
