Is it worth it to promote a post on Steemit?
Well, here are my result...

A few days ago, I decided to run a promotion for one of my blog post. One of my main reasons for being here, is to promote my webcomic: Adventures with Capt'n Heroic. (Even though I really like the platform now that I'm here). So I promoted the Intro page to my comic.

I promoted my page for 3 Steem Dollars. I first tried 1, then 2, but it ended up taking 3 Steem Dollars to get it on the first page view of the promoted post in Art. This in USD cost me about $30.

Well, my Promotion has ended, and I'll be honest. For my particular promotion, this was not worth it.. at all.
I'm not sure if it has to do with my post being a webcomic and webcomics aren't that hot on Steemit, or if it's this way with all promotions. I highly doubt I will try it again with this type of content any time soon, however I may try it with a different type of content eventually.

In total, I paid $3 SD and got back $.06 SD from the original promoted post.

Thanks to you making this sacrifice it's a very usefull (and sad) thing to know :( i'm sorry it didn't worked better than this

It was worth it to spend, just to know how well it works. $30 down, but hopefully I can save other's money with this post.

Those reuslts are terrible!!! I wanted to promote my store at one time, but very glad I didn't.

I agree. I'm not sure if anyone ever goes to the "promoted post" section.
I like what steemit does with the money that goes into promoted post, but I don't want it to be my money.

Hi there, what is that Steemit does with all money collected through "promoted posts" ?

I think they just destroy the steem which makes the value of steem increase

Yes, the official promotion feature is a waste of money! The actual technical aspect & burning of the SBD is great, but the implementation in that it only shows in the “promoted” tab is severely flawed.
I’m hopeful future updates will integrate the promoted posts into tag categories & communities better. Making official promotion more workable would be a huge step against the growing number of bid bots which are currently filling the void.

I agree! Actually, since then, I haven't gone back to the promotion section. I usually stick to my feed. I'm sure this is what most people do, that and the tags. I think they should work it like instagram or facebook and weave the post throughout someones regular feed. But I know that probably takes some crazy algorithm to.

It seems that unless you manage to get a lot of followers or your posts are about crypto, there isn't much point to being on here if you are trying to promote a business.

I see that there are a TON of people on here because they are into crypto... but I also have met several other people into other things as well. I think the "getting a lot of followers" part is key. It'a all about networking.
Maybe one day! :)

Hi @jonathan-greer, nice post! I was wondering about that. In my case, I am not here for crypto posts -although I love the crypto world- but for a Novel. Posting parts of a chapter each time; also essays & options. I am having a hard time to interact with readers... actually, I am having trouble to get to the readers.

Should we really only on networking?
