I have no idea what I'm doing on Steemit!!!

As the title of this post reads, I don't have a single clue what I'm doing on Steemit or how to really make a success of it.
I have been posting my content as well as my brand Cape Town is Awesome's content as posts.
At the end of the day what is the key to getting eyes on your content on the platform compared to others such as YouTube and Facebook?
