Geroge Orwell 1984 Style Internet Censorship in America
I believe that one of the most important issues concerning the Internet today is Internet censorship. It is well known that in communist China the communist party actively censors anything that is anti-national, and will also actively investigate anyone that is spreading anti-national information. In China you cannot access Facebook, YouTube, or even Google. The funny thing that most people don’t realize is that the United States Government is not so different from China when it comes to internet censorship.
Recently there has been quite an uproar over the current election, and extreme bias in internet censorship. One topic that I would highly suggest you look into is the fact that right-wing journalists are having there social media accounts like twitter and YouTube deactivated just for having right wing views and discussing right wing topics. One journalist in particular named Milo Yiannopoulos brings up a very interesting point: Why are right wing journalist twitter accounts being deleted, and also YouTube accounts, when ISIS is allowed to remain active on twitter and YouTube? This is very disturbing. And It brings me to the ultimate point of this short essay: Is America becoming subject to George Orwell 1984 style censorship? The answer is yes.
Another controversy that has caused quite an uproar is the Edward Snowden controversy. Back in 2013 Edward Snowden leaked over 10,000 documents from the NSA where he was working at the time. Edward leaked these documents to expose the NSA’s surveillance techniques which he claims is a massive invasion of privacy and unconstitutional. The evidence he has provided shows that the NSA can actively track on phone call, text message, really any communication that you do over the internet is tracked and stored in massive database by the US government.
The mainstream media will portray Edward Snowden to be treasonous, but I believe it is the other way around. Edward Snowden is a true American that is standing up against the corrupt network of Global Corporate Control.
Wait until Oct 1st when the UN gets their hands on the internet. Then you're really going to see censorship in overdrive.
agreed
Nope.
Funny how you think the government is censoring the Internet and you can tell us by posting on the Internet!
funny thing is your right. But the reality is that there is a regime of people that do not want that.
