I did a thing yesterday!! Promoting steemit, bitshares and crypto on my facebook.
Promotion
I am constantly talking to people about steemit.com (which I lovingly refer to as "the platform", since none of them are here anyways). I also regularly discuss cryptocurrencies with people who have no clue what they are.
Yesterday, I thought I would try a different approach. By posting on Facebook including a direct link to steemit.com and bitshares.org, I think that it will possibly entice someone (or ideally a few people) to click and go explore what they are all about. Every time I try to explain Steem to someone it leads to me asking them if they have heard of bitcoin or cryptocurriences, usually that is met with confusion. If someone has not heard of bitcoin, then it is nearly impossible to explain Steem and therefore steemit to them.
You will notice that I didn't say "It's like facebook, but you get paid." or "Want to make easy money??". Anyone here knows that this is nothing like Facebook, it requires work, researching, networking and time. You don't always get paid, or you get "paid" for the wrong reasons. Awesome content regularly gets lost and there are posts that are "average" making hundreds of dollars.
Steemit has been a wonderful experience for me. The talent that exists on the platform is interesting, beautiful and wide in variety. I have met some of the best people who have shown me friendship, encouragement and are always sharing their knowledge with me. Bitshares is the first exchange I have every used, and now I use it at least once a day. Knowing the impact that steemit has had on my life makes me want to tell everyone I know about it, hopefully this type of shameless plug will get some people interested. I am making money using both of these everyday, so why not try to get other people interested, I love seeing other people succeeding, if I can play a part in that, even better.
STEEM and BTS took off today thanks to you.
Oh im sure that had everything to do with me lmfao ;)
Yes I believe it did....it is the only reasonable explanation as to why the prices of both took off so extreme.
I really cant think of another reason.
Well if it's on the blockchain it has to be true :p
It's like facebook, only facebook doesn't get to monetize all your data!
I thank you for not doing that.
I thank you for sharing it too.
I thank you for making it clear -- this is NOT the way to attract new authors here. There is a code of ethics and morality that must accompany them so introducing them correctly to the system is indeed the best way.
I'm impressed. :)
I 'second' all your points :-)
Thanks as always for the support. I never lead with profit when talking about the platform, some people I dont even mention that part to. I agree that it will easily attract the wrong people if we introduce steemit first as a way to make money.
Very same sentiments
I am absolutely loving EOS. :)
I must admit that I am guilty of saying it is like a Facebook. mostly because I know my co-workers attention span. I do get a kick out of the fact that people will spend hours and hours talking about movies and collectibles. Yet they tease me for talking about cryptocurrencies. however I do have a friend that just signed up today. So I'm definitely sending them to whaleshares discord.
I am realizing that it is silly to get disheartened when the majority of people I talked to seem to disregard my suggestion. They are simply not looking right now. Yet there are a small few that are looking. So even if one out of 100 are all that is looking. Helping that one is worth it.
I usually smile when people tell me their " I should have" or " if only I had" stories. Yet they disregard my suggestion to check out steemit. Yet with the price of steam it being under $0.60. There will be some wealthy people in the not-so-distant future.
Fantastic post @krazykrista. Yes, you are right. This is a platform that requires the initiative to learn, grow and connect.
How lucky, unfortunately here in Italy we are behind ages. I could pay indirectly with crypto but fees will become much higher than simply paying in fiat so for now there in no point. Whenever I buy something online though, I always pay with my trusted crypto 😊
I haven't personally spent any of my steemit earnings anywhere, I am powering up, up, up but have met many steemians who have, it is nice to be part of something that is helping people.
Steemit is an amazing platform. I invested in my first non-steel cryptos last week using my earnings from here. It’s awesome to see blogging actually paying off. And extremely fun too. :)
I agree it is fun, im glad to be a part of it.

Well done, actually I thought to do so in the next few days.
But because of the particularity of this platform, it's not easy to spread the world about it.
I've found a different angle from you ^_^
Good luck on spreading the word, I have a couple people who have shown interest, but only time will tell.
