Helloooooooooooo, can anyone hear me? Is there someone here? I can’t seem to find my way, too many paths, little or no description. Hello Steeemians… I am lost, not in the forest but right here on steemit. Oh how much I need direction. Precisely two weeks ago, I joined the steemit, the** steem** platform, I was so eager to meet people of like minds, to interact, share ideas, collaborate and get results that will be of benefits to our society. I was almost ready to publish my introductory post but I decided to check out things here for myself.

In the first week, it all seems too silent, awkward, to be honest, the silence was deafening. As confused as I was, I decided to write a post just to feel the pulse and hopefully test the waters. Bam Bam Bam, the silence grew louder. I had to double check the URL – for the not too techy, URL means Uniform Resource Location (web address) and yes I was on the right website – steemit.com. How then do I build connections in a silent place as silent as a tomb? But the testimonies about building and meeting people of diverse background and ideology across** steemit** are unending.

The following week, it all changed, clicking on my feeds, I was blown away, this time around the wall of silence seems to be fading and in its place – noise, noise, more noise, and confusion. I have seen tags like steepshot, Dtube, Dsound, Esteem, Busy, upvote, resteeming etc. There are tons of others that seem to be aiding my confusion. I almost forgot steemgigz – what else? A little handholding wouldn’t do any harm I guess.

Everyone seems to be talking to themselves. Everyone seems to be walking at a fast pace, looks like the rat race fever is here and a lot of people, opinion and ideas seems to be buried in the debris within this noise. I move around as much as I can, but the more I try to understand and find my way around steemit, steem, upvotes, sharing and collaboration the more confused I become. Are there really people here or just bots, mini-bots and macro bots. Okay for sure I know @surpassinggoogle @jalasem @maverickinvictus @spiritualmax @asbonclz

Aside from these guys, are there other humans here who are as passionate about changing the world and impacting lives? Practically, a lot of new folks are as confused as I am, but most won’t have the courage to speak up for fear of being term dummy.

I think I will carry out a survey in the coming weeks to try and ascertain the number of plankton – I learn that’s the tag for newbies, who gave up or almost gave up on steemit community because they felt it was too lonely, too silent or a little too noisy.

Be it as it may I am here to meet awesome people, and hopefully,y in the weeks to come, I hope to have learned enough from all those willing to help and use these ideas to help others too. I am leefrancis – let’s build bonds unbreakable on steemit.

@leefrancis, steemit is a great place to be. There's a lot you can actually learn to grow and have a great journey on steemit.

Join #steemschools and learn how to grow on steemit and business. Join our discord channel here https://discord.gg/EVhtjg8. You'll be glad you did.

Well to say that Steem has a high learning curve is an understatement. You are given the wrong expectation that it is easy but no Steemit is not. It entails a lot of hardwork and networking. It is a social media platform afterall.

You need to learn about formatting, markdowns, and citations properly so that you are not tagged as a plagiarists.

Then you need to go out there and build relationships. Communities are a great way to do so. There are a lot of different Communities in Steemit that can cater to your niche.

Talking of niche it's a great way of getting people engaged if you have a niche.

All in all its daunting but it can be done.

Resteemed your article. This article was resteemed because you are part of the New Steemians project. You can learn more about it here: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gaman/new-steemians-project-launch

It takes time to get used to how this community rolls, keep interacting and finding more "humans" :)

I'm thankful for the mention and glad to see you recognize me as someone flesh and blood :D

Cheers!

Sure thanks.. Will keep learning
