Milestone - 10,000 posts in 24 hours

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Anyone checking out the New feed today would notice a surge of activity. After a couple of days of lull for account creation, Steemit have opened the floodgates. As a result, we have nearly 5,000 new users today! That's probably an all time high, or at least a high since mid-July.

The overall post count is at an all time high. We have broken 10,000 posts over a 24 hour period for the first time! Note that some statistics will show much higher figures, but I assume they do not filter out edits to existing posts. Comments count has also reached a new milestone, breaking well past 50,000 comments. We're also inching closer to 5,000 active authors per day (and many more commenters).

Transactions have also broken the 500,000 per day mark. Though not comparable given a vast majority of those are mere votes, this is well clear of Ethereum and Bitcoin. Indeed, yesterday, it exceeded Ethereum and Bitcoin combined!

Given that we were averaging 1,200 posts per day just three short months ago, this is impressive growth. Still, these are very tiny numbers. There's a lot of growth potential. After all, Reddit is doing over a million posts and 25 million votes every single day!

All statistics from Steempunks, SteemData and SteemDB.

Great post! I thought at first that you were saying you made 10,000 posts. LOL

I have been trying to get my viewers to join Steemit and so far a couple hundred of them have signed up. After I release my most recent video we should see an even steeper climb. Welcome to the future folks! :)

Haha, that's funny.

Keep up the good work! As always, the more people you sign up to Reddit, the more votes for you :)

Why would anyone waste their time on Facebook and twitter when you could be building something of value on Steemit? The Reddit stats you mention show the huge growth potential for Steemit.

It remains a mystery :)

Wow. I did not know Steemit is actually doing so well. Thanks for the update!

Really? It seems fairly obvious that things are moving along very quickly. Just visit the New page - you'll see what I mean!
(OK, momentarily things are slow, I guess Steemit was overwhelmed with traffic. Just shows there's still work to be done before this site is ready for the mainstream.)

@krabgat Yes, they are working really hard! Really nice to see the progress :) Go Steemit!

I hope it keeps on growing to overtake fb or any other platform
Let do all of us 10.000 strong Steemit user to promote Steemit and let everyone know about it
It gives us a better chance of rewards too I hope
Steemit forever!!!

That is quite a jump. As the price of Steem goes up, I think we will see more and more!

Great to see so many new and active users.!

Looks like things are really taking off! 5000 in one day is really something :D

And with the amount of new people commenting on my blog lately, I'd believe it.

This is a great time to get involved in Steemit! Early adoption phase, for sure.

@shayne

We're starting to hear stories of the bandwidth rate-limiting effect due to the huge volume of posts: https://steemit.com/help/@hammadakhtar/need-urgent-help

@steem has been re-delegating SP to new accounts, so hopefully this shouldn't be a problem anymore. It's an important problem that must be solved though!

5000 users in one day? Steemit is experiencing one of the numerous growth spurts. Really nice to be a part of all this.

That's just authors who have made a post. Users would be much higher, probably over 10,000 now.

Just a matter of time before we overtake Reddit. Then we can focus on conquering the planet...

That's crazy talk :) But who knows? There's certainly a non-zero chance of surpassing Reddit.

Onward and upward!
