A World of Abundance: More Money or More Gratitude?

This may sound exaggerated but I truly think that Steemit could be changing the way we view everything ... From a world of scarcity to a world of abundance. It started a while back when the blockchain technology took off and changed the way people viewed money.

Opportunities

People who never had an investment in their life are now investing in cryptocurrency, and a lot are getting rich. In fact, this is the point in history where everyone has the greatest opportunities to grow their wealth. There are many many ways to make money, from traditional methods such as investing, trading, and mining to not so traditional such participating in projects and platforms that never stop growing in number and size. (1, 2, 3, …).

Steemit just brings it to a whole new level, not only is it a great investment to earn money, but it does so well it’s DESENSITISING people to the emotional attachment of money. This effect is not just happening to an owner of a bitcoin mine in China, not to the whales of steemit but to every one of us, slowly but surely.

Predictions

Sometimes when your posts don’t get as much money as you’d like, you may feel under appreciated. I get this feeling sometimes and it made me think about its meaning. Why would someone feel this way when they are doing much better than if they were somewhere else.

Let’s do some simple math:
1 minnow upvote can give a Steemit post 0.01 SBD (around $0.10 now)
1000 likes on a post in Facebook would get you on average $0.00!

SteemitFacebook
(0.10 ÷ 1)(0 ÷ 1000)

I take it back, this is not simple math … Even the most sophisticated calculators can’t compare the value of a Steemit post to a facebook post because the latter is zero, but I can tell you it’s infinitely better. Yet no one is impressed, and it’s hard to be impressed when under each post and comment there sits the $ symbol as a gauge of the content value.

My prediction is that Steemit will have a remarkable effect on all other social media, users will no longer be happy with getting nothing in return and eventually they will get accustomed to earning money doing the simplest activities (like, share, post).
Getting an income from social media will not be something special and it won't be as rewarding. The value of the money won't be anything less but people will take it for granted and will always want more. This is not a bad thing per se because it’s showing us a promising future.

Gratitude

Let’s take the internet as an example. If you were anything like me 10 years ago, high speed internet were of extreme value. I used to get around 1-5 Mbps on a good day using a 3G modem. If you told me at that time that one day I'll be getting 100 Mbps internet, I would think that heaven has come to earth. Go back even 10 more years, and anything we do online now is their science fiction.

Look at me now using this high speed connection without a second thought. I'm taking it for granted. The value is still the same but the rewarding satisfying feeling is not there anymore. Similarly, the desensitisation to money is happening and it's a signal to a future of abundance and prosperity.

This brings us to another important question:

More money or more gratitude?

Interesting read. That is true that a like on FB will get you nothing! I'm not quite a minnow yet, but on my way! Still a red fish/plankton like a lot of the rest of Steemians. :) But my upvote is slowly gaining power!

I'm not sure how Steemarine ranks work here but if you are a red fish then I'm a Paedocypris progenetica, which is the smallest unit of fish size
Glad to have you on my post @apanamamama

Check out your rank at the Steemit Board. Check out my post asking if you're really a minnow. ;) Votes don't count after 7 days, so it is just for your reading pleasure. ;) Have a good one.

Just remember as we are still early adopters we face the same problem of all early adopters face of any tech. All we can do is hold still and spread the word and educate people about it.

True! that's the exciting thing about it. We are early !

I think you may be right. Once a large portion of society is earning supplemental income (or primary income) from sites like steemit, it will be very easily taken for granted. It actually takes effort to not take things for granted. @ironshield

Good reading material you posted here. I think slightly differently on what steem is doing with peoples perception of money. People are realizing that crypto currencies like steem are the result of and transfer of energy. The energy that the people created through their sharing of written, photographs, videos etc. , these all have value to the community expressed in the crypto-currency of steem.
Governments no longer back their currencies with precious metals, so it is nothing more than a piece of paper with numbers on it. The people (us) have figured it out and are cutting the governments and bankers out on the monopoly scheme they have been running. The governments don't add value , they suck the value out of the money through interest and inflation. Crypto currencies such as steem have no government backing or control so the currency in theory should hold it's value with the community. That can't be done with any government back currency from what I understand. it will surely be interesting going forward as these governments realize that the "gig is up" so to speak.

Interesting perspective. Yes, people now are seeing the beauty of Steem and cryptocurrencies. Governments are no longer in control of this game. From what I understood fiat currency is all built on our trust in the system, but all they are doing is sucking the value out of the money as you mentioned, which results in an enslavement to everyone. Thanks for reading @sultnapapper

Your understanding is incorrect when it comes to fiat, as is most peoples, at least in the United States that is. Fiat came about by deception, corruption, and lies. Trust by the people was never part of the equation. The US government made it illegal to possess gold at first and then slowly removed silver from the currency, the deception took over fifty years to complete but they did it. The paper money at first said it could be exchanged for gold , then after gold became illegal the paper money was called "silver certificates" and you could exchange the paper money for silver at the Federal Reserve Banks. Then the designation of being "silver certificates " was removed, but we still had coins that had silver in them, not pure silver but some silver. That eventually became a microscopic amount of silver, it was all based on deception and time. Now they say it is trust and we have "trusted" it for years and years.
If you tell a lie long enough and often enough over time the people will believe the lie as being truth, that is exactly what has happened in the USA, I'm not sure about other countries but I suspect something similar has taken place as well since the same people run the central banks around the world. We are slaves as you stated, most people are to ignorant to realize it though, the governments are real good at causing distractions that keep the masses occupied with trivial crap and such so the masses don't ever stop and take the time to figure out and understand what has taken place. Since the US dollar was taken off the gold standard the dollar has lost 97% of its value, that should be a major wake up call, but the people aren't hearing it because they are running around with earbuds and cell phones in the ears and hands. It was a well planned and executed enslavement of the people for sure.

That's a valuable history lesson, I haven't looked into it that much but it is an important subject. I wasn't aware of this gradual deception, Thanks for taking the time to put up this information

You are most welcome.

Excellent perspective

Great post and you are spot on with what you have written. A good follow up article would be to write about more problems that our world has too. Steem on!

I'll keep it in mind when writing for my new posts, thanks @alvinauh

Thank you so much for including me in the daily whistle stop, best group!

Gratitude! All the way :)... Havent you found your "wasted time" on other social media cut significantly? (mine was facebook) I think you are right and when people get used to the idea of getting paid directly for their attention, there will be no turning back. Isn't it fun to be a part of a giant social/economical experiment?

Yes, It is fun being an early participant of this awesome experiment :D
I've lost interest in social media long time ago, Steemit seems to bring me back to it in a better way.
Gratitude is my answer too ... Thanks @cristinamuah
