Introducing the #nobidbot tag.

The #nobidbot tag was introduced by @whatamidoing 8 days ago in his post:

Why don’t we all protest the Trending and Hot page? - #nobidbot

@whatamidoing wrote:

Is there any point in checking the Trending page? Any whatsoever?
Nearly all of the posts in Trending and Hot have been paid for. Even whales can’t compete with an army of bidbots anymore.

If the whole page is filled with posts who merely paid to get there, it means that there is absolutely NO correlation between quality and payout. There are posts with $200 payouts where $196 is from paid bidbots. The high payout merely gives the illusion of quality.

I propose we make use of a tag (#nobidbot) for users who are not using any bidbots and encourage whales and dolphins to get onboard and support us. If we can get some good curation on the #nobidbot tag we can also encourage many of the users of those bidbots to stop and join our cause as they discover there are more ways to succeed without these kind of schemes.

So, the more I thought about this concept, the more I realized how @byColeman and I could utilize @transparencybot to help bring awareness and incentives to this tag.

As of 4/18/18, @transparencybot will begin upvoting random posts that use the #nobidbot tag and have not used bidbots on the post.

The number of posts it does per day depends on its remaining voting power.

Latter on a filter to find only author's having reputations of perhaps 60 (or 50) and below may be used, but for now it is wide open.

Currently, due to the relativity small number of posts currently using this tag, you are nearly guaranteed an upvote from transparencybot if you do use the nobidbot tag and do not use any bidbots to "promote" your posts.

The tag does not need to be your first tag, i.e., it can be any of your five tags used. NSFW articles are filtered out.

The upvote will not occur for at least 24 hours after you have posted your article.

Currently the upvote value at 100% is about $.15. As @Transparencybot receives more delegations or increases in SP on its own, the upvote value will increase as well.

Let's look to the Future!

@looktothefuture You have received a random upvote from @transparencybot for not using bidbots on this post and using the #nobidbot tag!

Hmmm...?! - I could somewhat understand your agenda trying to (more visibly) disclose which posts achieved a higher reward amount by using bidbots, despite the fact that we can see that, in fact, without you and even on Steemit, if we take a closer look.

But upvoting an empty post like this...

Content that Transparencybot Upvotes

... I can't understand, and especially NOT after you have said in your introductory post:

"When a bot votes on your article, it takes from everyone else --- it is just that simple!"

So, if I may conclude, you just took from all of us to upvote an empty post!!!

But who knows, maybe that's the reason why you named yourself as you did (TransparencyBot), to uvpote 'transparent' posts!?!

Thank you have told us about it. This is a project that I have been waiting for. I was one of the many writers who get little in return. Although sometimes I write (I assume) worthwhile. But many occur otherwise. Just a few of the temple and an image (probably) get the rewards are so great. .. from now on, I am using the right permission tag #nobidbot

Thank you for the support.
Currently anyone that uses the tag will probably get an upvote since there are not that many users yet, but I do believe this will change.

Sorry it took me so long to notice this! Thanks for the support! We are trying to grow this tag so this is a big help!

There is a lot more coming. I am in the process of setting up and organic list for trending and hot.

Thanks.... I will try this tag since I don't use bitbots and I don't make much on my posts ....

Looking good.

I actually thought you'll talk more on the abuse of bidbots, and how it can be curtailed.

This looks like a pretty good initiative. I agree that it is very difficult to get good content seen because so many people are paying to promote poor content.

However, I view the bidbots as a method of advertising. Like boosting a post on Facebook. As of now, using them is the only way to boost your post to the trending page on Steemit.

I, personally, try to use them when I can but the payouts are not very good because I don't have 100's of dollars to spend like some other people. Still, I find that when I spend 5SBD on a bidbot that I get more visibility on that post.

I believe that if there were enough whales that wanted to remove the bidbots then they would need to take the place of them. If whales started finding other people with good content and then upvoting them. That would help significantly. Then, the tradeoff would be that the people who received the upvotes, also upvoted other good content suggested by the whales.

It needs to be a group. If 50 whales joined together and started selecting certain users and helping them grow. Then within a very short period of time, bidbots would be out of commission simply because we would be using Steemit how it was designed to be used.
