It is your reputation, i am a newbie as well, but as far as i know, it increases with the amount of steem power you have and the upvotes/posts you receive/make :) A big reputation means you add bigger value with your upvotes too.
Can you pick your own account password? Or do you have to.use the generated one
I picked my own password.
I signed up on my phone and it generated a password for me. When j try to log into a computer the password doesn't work. I go to the password tab on my phone but the only option is to generate a new password .
That sounds annoying, i would contact steem support if i were in your shoes.
