I will be taking literature as the center of my discussion.
This applies to any subject you are teaching as a classroom teacher.

LESSONS TO BE TREATED INCLUDE:

  1. What is a literature, it types and characteristics? (lesson one)
  2. What are the how did literature came into being? (lesson two)
  3. What are the genres of literature? (Lesson three)
  • Prose
  • Poetry and
  • Drama
  1. Vivid explanation on the genres of literature with their characteristics and examples (lesson four)

Lesson Week 1

Instructional materials Example of Literary Work
Behavioral Objectives By the end of the lesson the students should be able to;

  1. Define Literature
    1b. Know the Development of Literature
    1c. List the Genres of Literature
    Previous Knowledge: Students are Familiar with Literature Especially the Spoken or Oral Literature.

PHASE 1 (ENGAGEMENT):
Teacher activity:
The teacher starts by asking the students what they understand by the word literature.
Students Activity:
Students will brain storm in groups and give various ideas as to what they think the literature is.

PHASE 2 (EXPLORATION)
Teacher Activity
The teacher discusses with the students on literature as a concept, explain how literature can about to the present time and list and explain the genres of literature.
Student Activity:
The students take part in the discussion and are given opportunity to participate by giving any sort of contribution they know about literature.

PHASE 3 (EXPLANATION)
Teacher Activity:
The teacher writes instruction on the board for an activity to carry on. The teacher assign students in groups of 5 (five) to give an example of drama, prose and poetry.
Student activity:
Team leaders of the group are required to use a piece of chalk to write their findings on the board for easy scrutiny.

PHASE 4 (ELABORATION)
Teacher Activity:
The teacher leads the students to summarize the concept of literature and its enactment into this world, along the line, a vivid explanation of the genres of literature will be made for the understanding of students.

PHASE 5 (EVALUATION)
Teacher Activity:
The teacher asks the following questions?

  1. What is literature?
  2. Describe the concept of literature.
  3. What are the genres of literature?
  4. How literature did come to being?
    Student Activity:
    Students give responses to the question raised by the teacher giving explanation in each case.
