Hope you are right about the way the worth of steem will upgrade.

Plus, the traffic there would not all convert on ads, and the ad revenue would be scalped and mediated by the ad network and the ad providers... so there's that.

For me, that's also a big plus of steem. Not alone that you don't have to pack up your blog with affiliate, google ads and this kind of shit, also you are more free to write about what you think.

When I look at the affiliate sites on the net, 90% of them just say how great every product is, where they get provisions from.

Here you can make a viable contribution about a product or service, etc. without fear not making money by it when you write a bad review about it.

So everyone can be more honest and decide for higher ethical values.

Indeed.
Unless of course the owner of such product has a strong position here, then people would want to please him or avoid his mighty flag.
But nothing is perfect I guessl
