Rafting on the Chulman River (Neryungri district of Sakha Republic).
Very vivid experience
I came to the Republic of Sakha for the first time. The nature is luxurious, on every shore, as soon as you step towards the forest, you come across lingonberries, blueberries, and large rose hips.
The mosses are such that sometimes you drown up to your knees. The two-day route extends over 20 km.
We walked along the stream, made rest on land, and set up camp in the forest for the night.
As night falls...
The dogs barked non-stop and we began to light flares...
A few hours later we understood the reason for the dogs barking - a distinct howl was heard in the distance.
Many thanks to our dogs Labrador Khan and Rottweiler Misha for holding the defense and not allowing the wolves to come close to us. The fire was kept burning all night. It was not possible to fall asleep right away.
In the morning we continued our journey.

On the way we came across a dozen equipped shelters and winter huts. Here I was surprised by the northern mentality, almost every winter hut has supplies, everything you need for ignition, firewood, sun beds, blankets, some tools. Everyone follows the unspoken laws of the north and don’t take it apart unnecessarily, don’t break it, if you use it, leave something of yourself. Wait out a storm or blizzard, while away the night by the fire, leaving the camp and splitting the wood yourself, the frozen traveler will remember you with a kind word.
For the first time in my life I dealt with rafts - this is a special segmented inflatable boat with a reinforced bottom and sides, without rowlocks (oar stops). It was not possible to capture complex riffles; there was no time for a smartphone there.
I’ll tell you this - if you don’t know how to decorate your vacation, then rafting is an excellent option to take a break from the city, change your surroundings, put your thoughts in order, and just be with nature. The main thing is not to forget about equipment and backup dry clothes and shoes.
