STEEMIT Censorship | Steem Power = Censorship Power

in #steemit8 years ago

I am sad about the fact STEEM power users can 'Block' posts based only on the base the Whales or other power voters don't agree with it. They can essential hide the post from all users.

How is a blogger with less then 20 votes a post suppose to get anywhere?

Where is the 'de-centralized' part of STEEMIT?

A friend on STEEM posted a fact-based blog on the color of ancient human skin color and was prompt 'Blocked'. I thought Steem users originated mostly from anarchist/volunteerism, free-minded people looking for an uncensored place to speak and share.

It would feel like a waste of time and energy to continue to post for content to only be filtered through the big players. I know STEEM is a new concept and maybe there are changes to come, I would like to hear from some of the users on this subject.

I am totally new to Steemit, but in big-ups for it I have heard over and over how there is no censorship here, and yet you relay this info! Hmmmm How do these so-called 'whales' get to censor these posts you claim? Care to elaborate? Do your flag them? How would you know it was 'whales doing that?

As far as I am aware Steemit has only been around a short while?
So how has this hierarchy arisen so quick where there are 'whales' or 'top dogs' with the power to banish?
How did they get their status?

It is very good your asking questions like this because any authoritarian structure will not tolerate questioning, so questioning is a way to reveal just how authoritarian a place, or individual is.
