I agree, but what do you do when someone is stalking you for weeks and flagging every comment and post? I don't wish to be on either end, but I get the impression that this might have also been an extreme case. If someone is on here only to be a nuisance, what can one do to protect oneself from excess bile? Unlike other places, you can't block people yet. This is acceptable in other platforms since it is private, but here, publicly sharing thoughts and lives, there Miiiight be some balance to be found between total unpolicablity to draconian matrix, no?

Well, first of all, this guy davinger´s post were just copy&paste pasta and he put his senseless comments into other people´s discussions. When some people told him and flagged him, he freaked out and went on an all out revenge flagging spree.
Now I would have just ignored him, because I consider any other reaction a waste of time and energy, but eco-alex chose differently and got the cavalry in to help him with this nuisance.
So I hope this guy learned his lesson, but there will be others in the future, so best to just mute them and ignore them.
In general, I am for the removal of the flag, because it´s a policing instrument which can be easily abused by somebody with a certain amount of steempower and then the victim of this abuse has to get someone with more steempower than the abuser to punish him and it goes on and on and is a bit of a kindergarten, and frankly, I came to steemit to support good content creators, not for this childish stuff.

I would not flag for reasons of any differences in views or cencorship. i do however believe in flagging when people are posting total plagerized content and also commenting total lies, abuse and threats ALL over your posts and spam flagging 100s of your posts for no good reason.

Remeber, people who post dozens of plagiarised posts are taking from the rewards pool without adding any real value. They are like parasites who litter comments with either abuse or junk. We do need to protect steemit from becoming a circus of kids who do nothing but disrupt.

The mute button does nothing to stop others seeing 100s of spammy comments or abusive comments and total lies ... so sometimes we have to flag so that he comments or really bad trolls are simply hidden.

Id say we need a block button! We should have the right to stop certain people commenting on our posts at all if we like.. then no need to flag in certain cases.

Im 100% for freedom of expression just to be clear..

Hear Hear! Maybe the flagging can just get replaced with a number of dislikes. The steempower thing really does my head in. On one hand, great to help your mates, but on the other, the high school bully mentality in the opposite direction is a waste of time on here methinks. I just wonder what will happen when like Bitcoin to Ethereum, Fb to Steemit becomes popular in the common mind and people and corporations come here in flocks. Not looking forward to trolls, bots, SJW, snowflakes, fake profiles AND an ocean of clueless real people newbies all filling the Steem Stream with Bile and nonsense. The AI bots are what will just make this weird. Like when you realize I've been a robot this whole time, but the upvotes and banter are worth reading. At what point would we know or stop caring? Frankly anything to remind us of our humanity these days is a win for me. Thanks for your insights.= @likedeeler
