WHY I THINK STEEMIT IS STARTING TO DISCOURAGE TRUE BLOGGERS / WRITERS ...

in #steemit8 years ago

Steemit is so important to us all , i am so happy every day to see that more and more people are so genuinely interested in sharing on steem all kind of stories...and be rewarded for it. It's amazing !!

But, i also remember the day i came home and spoke to my wife for the first time about Steemit...it was only 4 days ago. Not only that we both came to love the whole concept , but for me it was more than that as i knew how much she loves writing.. So it was actualy the perfect thing that happened to us as we expect a baby soon and knowing that she could do what she loves anyway, but being also rewarded .. really made her happy.

Today , i found her a bit discouraged .. and i also came to see why , after i watched the "trending" posts ( with highest rewards ).. These posts were actualy YOUTUBE VIDEOS , some PARODIES ABOUT MAKEUP .. Funny in their own way , i get them, but rewarded in an unbalanced way compared to the time and dedication someone put into writing a story.

Don't get me wrong please, good for them .. happy for anyone earning a dollar.. but i have my sympathy towards the class of true writers ( people who are trying to transmit to others emotions, feelings, hope, images..etc , through their words .. not with a Youtube video in which they become clowns) . I would hate to come home and find my wife making a video like that...instead of writing touching stories.

Thats all i fear.. and please if i offended anyone , i sincerely appologise .

I am a simple Taxi driver and i really love Steemit .
Wish you all the best ,
Eddie

I understand your felling but this is just like most other things in life. Take TV for example. Most people watch stupid shows that actually make them dumber instead of watching interesting stuff like documentaries for example. In the end it's all relative. Everyone has their own taste. This just means that the majority of people likes those kind of posts.

With time there will be established communities dedicated to certain kind of topics and maybe those will get more exposure than now.

Having more upvotes doesn't mean the content you posted isn't good. It just means whoever holds influence and upvotes has either missed it or simply isn't of their liking. Simple as that!

It's great to reinvent yourself , be flexible , especially with the economics of today's life .. i only hope we will not lose valuable people in the process.

I hope for the best but look at what other sites have devolved into. Especially Reddit. Naturally, people are going to want to do the least work for the most reward. That probably means memes and other low quality but popular content will eventually be prevalent. I don't think adding money to the equation changes that but possibly even makes it much worse. Money also encourages scamming, stealing content etc.
