What If Steemit Goes "Corporate"?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Recently I was thinking about a couple of possible scenarios that the platform could face in the upcoming months/years if it continues to grow. Hear me out.

Companies of all kinds entering Steemit.

Depending on the success of the site, many companies and businesses will be interested in tapping this uncharted territory. How this will play out is an enigma to me. Businesses could purchase a lot of Steem Power becoming mega-whales therefore creating their own ad channels to bring attention to their products. On the other hand they could also hire curators, "steem stars" and other users with plenty SP to promote them.

Movie & Product Reviews.

I think this is an incredible niche for both content creators of all kinds (authors, filmmakers, studios) but also for critics & reviewers, something I feel it's still lacking here. Amazon, eBay, Rotten Tomatoes & IMDB are very clear examples but as we all know by now, why do it for free when you can get paid for reviewing the latest Marvel's hit right here?

Building a Marketplace.

As users can already send and receive Steem/SD and considering the previous points then creating a marketplace seems the next obvious step.

Mostly I just wanted to open the debate, what do you guys think?
Do you envision other potential scenarios?
