WHAT IS BTC
Many people believe that Bitcoin is very complicated, although it is much simpler and more intuitive than most people think. This series aims to help everyone understand the basic concepts and, over time, present other learning opportunities to those who want to know more.
Bitcoin is often explained as being compared to something that people already know, but it often creates a lot of confusion. Bitcoin is a new technology that does not look like anything we've seen so far. Therefore, a better mindset is a combination of different things that are different from what we are used to:
First, because it allows you to transfer money so easily, Bitcoin works a little better as a payment system, much like bank transfers or credit cards.
Second, bitcoin is a bit similar to gold, which is why many people even refer to it as "digital gold" or "gold 2.0". Think of it as gold for money, except that it is also very easy to move.
Third, bitcoin is like the internet because no person or entity controls it, so anyone can use it as it pleases. This gives him very unique properties.
These three properties reinforce each other so that they are all nested. But more on that in the following sections. Imagine what would happen if you take a big pot and throw a credit card, a piece of gold and a bit of "internet", mix everything up and get a new connection: Bitcoin!
