Earn money for your pictures My brother said

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

My brother Alienbutt (what a name and worth following) said to me 'get yourself on steemit and earn money for your pictures - it's better than facebook' so last December I joined but did nothing.

Two months ago, after hearing of his exploits on here I decided to post some pictures and see what happened.

Well so far I have earned a few pence from publishing some pictures and received some great feedback, thanks guys. But somethings still confuse me and it would be great to have a dummies guide for steemit dummies like me.

So when I look at the wallet we have steem, steem power and steem dollars. Also payouts come in the form of SBD, Steem and Vests (but I don't wear vests anymore).

Fortunately I can summon my brother to the rescue, but then he started talking about polonex and bitterex and bitcoins, woe slow down, he moved some steem to polonex lost it, found it, was hacked then finally announced with delight that he had bought a BBQ and a chainsaw (those cows better be careful, if thats what he is using to carve the meat).

Anyway now have rattled on, best head off to the sunset to try to understand more or more likely just let Alienbutt sort everything. If you have got this far, thanks for reading

It's easy, must be as I get it. What you need to build is your steem power, convert any steem into it. The more steem power you get the stronger your vote is and the more you will get in curation from voting for other posts. You can use your SBD to buy more steem or just let it build up.
I know you've loads of great photographs so try to post 4 a day and work on building your steem power as much as possible.

That just about sums up my experiences so far.

Love your photographs, Owen, and I'm following you now as well. And if you manage to get a "Steemit for Dummies", can I read it when you're done with it? I've been here for awhile too, and have a very long way to go with posting, keeping up with other posts ... and understanding what the heck I'm doing!

Some nice shots there, Alienbutt brother! Followed.

The way I persuaded your brother Alienbutt to try Steemit was by telling him it was a new blogging site where you could, if you were very lucky, earn a bit of crypto-cash.

I told him that blogging on steemit.com was better than FB and Twitter BECAUSE the chances of getting paid were higher than the other social media sites.

The most important thing I told him, though, was this:

Don't expect to earn anything - nothing at all - and if you do earn something, it will be a nice surprise.

In other words, if you're here to earn a living and you're expecting to be able to give up your day job, you're looking at this from the wrong angle.

Don't look at what others are achieving, do your own thing :)

Good Luck!

Hi Michelle
Good advice and if I make a beer or a trip to take ospreys or just the acknowledgement and feedback I will be happy
