STEEMIT INTRODUCTION

***********************************************************

Sort:

You are still chugging right along! Awesome! Whenever I want to quit Steemit because I feel like I will never really move up, I visit your blog and think, he's so determined and can totally do this, so I can too. Haha. I don't know if I actually believe it, but it has at least stopped me from quitting. It can be such an emotional roller coaster at times because of how the money is divided. When just my friends vote on my blogs, they make like .05 - maybe a dollar. When I get a major d.tube upvote or get a one-off whale donation, then I make like 60 bucks on a video!! It's hard to get used to the volatility! I hope one day I can make it more consistent for myself! I will keep the faith, and if I lose it, I know where to come! So...thanks for that!

I'm glad that if this does nothing else at least if motivates you and we can keep in touch :).. It's a game of patience I believe that takes time and dedication. I'm even on the more controversial side and catch my fair share of downvotes as well.. but that is the path that I choose to walk here in order to get noticed and assert myself as a someday force to be reckoned with in this community.. :)

I was thinking about the Dtube thing as a way to expand my reach but have not had the time to figure it out... any insight?

You can do really well with dtube if you tag dtube in your tags. As there is a good chance dtube may choose to upvote your video, which is essentially the only way I have made anything on my posts! If you are going to utilize dtube, I recommend really figuring out what your dtube personality is going to be like. I dove in like an idiot without figuring out what direction I was going. I just figured, hey ill make covers and parodies and that will be cool, but I think dtube is looking for more than just that, but also people adding to the platform, which is my little tutorials have been well received. You also need to be able to commit to it daily to make it most effective. I would say just, at first anyway, maybe do a little daily explanation of your daily post, but in video form. Talk about the things that have worked well, and talk about the hard things, and the things that you have found are kind of a waste of time. If what you have to offer those watching is helpful enough, more word will spread about you! Other than that, you're doing well, so the addition of dtube will really help your account grow!

What do you use to record with?

With my parodies, I use a DSLR. For just my every day videos I just use the camera on my desktop Mac.

I am trying to find screen capture software so as I may walk folks through my analysis in a video... not sure what the best solution to that is.

DSLR is just digital single lens reflex. Basically just a regular 4-800 dollar camera. Most computers have screen capture built in. Do you use a PC or a Mac?

I'm glad that if this does nothing else at least if motivates you and we can keep in touch :).. It's a game of patience I believe that takes time and dedication. I'm even on the more controversial side and catch my fair share of downvotes as well.. but that is the path that I choose to walk here in order to get noticed and assert myself as a someday force to be reckoned with in this community.. :)

Account Value ($3,682.63) vs ($3,831.54)

  • -$148.91 decrease

Ouch...you've lost a day.
Blame the slowness of STEEMit, looks like we are having a redo of the October FAIL.

Not a big, deal.. I'm waiting to convert my SBD over to Steem as I think based on my analysis that SBD is going toward $19 or so here in the future.. These are the ups and downs of having your account value tied to an Alt Coin.. lol.. All comes around in the end I'm sure.. even if Steem Goes to $1.00 I just need 1,000,000 of them and we are all set.. I'll just keep earning a little each day as we go along... patience is the key..

Also, probably for your sanity. You shouldn't count the articles you got voted in oblivion or the ones you have high Rewards for as part of your daily averages. They are out of the deviation range of what is "normal".

Just a suggestion.

Are they? or are they part of the deviation range on a larger scale? Take for example flash crashes in a coin, the average after crash remains the same. I think that getting homeruns or voted into oblivion are part of the greater process and should likely count. They are all small pieces of the larger whole.

I'm sure there is some on-line calculator that you can throw everything into and get the normal range and see that $0 and the high end ones are out of the standard deviation.

Just a suggestion, because the chances of repeat super upvotes are rare (once in a month and a half) from my experience. Looking at your articles, you have 1 article that was over $15 in over a month period. That value is throwing off your daily average. So are the $0.00 Reward articles, because at a minimum, you can upvote yourself.

2 over $15 in the last 5 days. I also do very well on comments, much more so than articles in many instances, I have quite a few +$10 comments.. I think that trying to calculate the deviation may just complicate things and I'm basically just posting the raw figures averages out over time. I think that in the end it will balance itself out in much the same way as the rep figure will.. As +1 per day is unrealistic and it will slowly drop into the tenths or hundredths of a point over time.

there yah go! You are 5 cents further ;)

I know, moving up.. one day at a time.. lol. here have a .02 rebate... :)

9 cents ;)

Awesome, .03 rebate... You see this is how communities are supposed to operate.. networking, being nice, not being a dick etc.. I think I just made a new friend.. (snoop dance...)

It might be awkward to calculate but due to steem power interest you could maybe do something like add the daily SP interest to average daily earnings, and it would reduce the total days to 1million, of course with it compounding it would be awkward and require some funky equation. You could even factor in compound interest on daily steem earnings.

Nice avatar.. not sure exactly what you mean.. provide an example..

This is pandasquad, so say you have 100 SP and you didn't use you account for one year and you came back to it you would have about 109 SP as your steem power receives interest (the interest rate changes constantly). So you have gained nearly $50 per year per 100 steem, so you account value would go up assuming a constant price. It's awkward to calculate as it compounds but also the rate constantly changes as well. If you have high SP its significant anyway, so it will be more important later on in your quest I guess. I had to use this account as my pandasquad one doesn't have enough steem power to comment or even top up SP due to bandwidth issues

Good info I did not know my SP collected interest..

Just discovered this initiative today and I find it fascinating! With the wealth of bots and other such services plaguing the platform these days a completely organic growth-to-the-top attempt is both refreshing and encouraging to a newly joined minnow such as myself!
Whenever I feel a small lack of motivation looking at a $.01 post, I think to myself Hey, one day steem could be comparable with the ethereum of days past and then that .01 steem lights up my eyes with joy!

This is very true.. I think that the only way to prove the viability of the platform is to attempt to grow and account organically and without the use of bots. I want to prove that an author can make money here without the requirement of having money first...

Awesome for 25 days in
