New Members, Mistakes, Flagging, My Advice!
What I love and attracted me to Steemit was the positive community goals for all here to progress society into the New Kingdom with a fair currency not controlled or taxed by greedy politicians and businessmen.
From the start, I have attempted to post daily and my first few weeks of posts received upvotes and comments but made little to nothing in Steem/SBD.
What a buzz when I got my first whale vote, this was the real boost to morale which got me kickstarted here on Steemit, thanks to @fyrstikken.
This encouraged me to invest the few dollars I had saved into the Steemit platform.
I did make a few noobie mistakes on the way especially learning how to do transactions in crypto, it's a whole new world.
We have all encountered many who have come here to make an income, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Newer members must be expected to make mistakes until they are pointed in the right direction.
Biggest mistakes made by newer members:
~ Spamming the same comments.
~ Asking, begging or demanding Upvotes or Follows.
~ Plagiarising content in their posts.
~ Following thousands of accounts, impossible to follow their posts.
My advice is:
~ Make 1 good quality post a day.
~ Avoid Resteeming multiple posts, the quickest way to lose me as a follower is by constantly Resteeming other posts.
~ Follow Steemit members whom you find interesting.
~ Interact positively and respectfully.
Another issue that has popped up lately "flagging"
I believe that flagging a post or comment should only be done in extreme cases. Steemit used to provide guidelines when it came to flagging, but I see that those guidelines (abuse, plagiarism, trolling, etc.) have been removed and it is now open slather to flag a post or comment for any reason you wish.
This has created a "flagging war" between Steemit members who have had personality clashes or disagreements. Rules of Conduct need to be addressed by the Steemit Management, this advice comes from a former soldier of 13 years with two UN Peacekeeping Missions under his belt.

Great advice! It is a very nice thing about Steemit where the community here can learn and grow from each other if they choose to.
I'll keep this in mind sir. Thanks :)
Good advice. Personality clashes should not warrant flagging a comment or post, its actually quite immature and probably a bit too impulsive to do so...
Thank you @prime-cleric for the great advice. Each time I resteem an article I wonder how convoluted my blog may be. I do it so I can pass information from posts that I feel can maybe help others and/or especially the newbies.
I am rethinking that process as well. It may be better to write an article pertaining to the posts I would otherwise Resteem and include links to those posts within MY post. Hmmmm! More to think about. Thanks again. Steem On!
Good idea, as long as you link the original posts, should not be a problem.
Just to be clear, always use your own words when making a post, never copy and paste other members writings unless you "quote" them, as it could get you flagged.
Thanks for your advice.
Great advice. It's a little intimidating when we first start figuring Steemit out. Even now, there's a lot more to learn, months later.
I made none of these mistakes but i find it hard to write everyday. When there is a basketball game of course, but other than that i can not find the time. I have so much to write but writing in steemit is a pain in the back. If it was just writing easy peasy, but writing it with steemit markdown style guide takes a lot of time.
This post I made was done fairly easily with a little use of the "markdown" feature, something that doesn't take long to learn the basics, or you can just opt for the "editor" feature which is straightforward to use.
I post using busy and that has an editor too but linking url, making some bold some italic, centering certain texts etc. I think i out too much work on style :D
Steemit platform is very stable now, I have not used busy at all.
Thanks for the advice. Im new to steemit, registered yesterday. Cheers!
Thank you for exellent advices @prime-cleric
