How are we going to fix handling different languages on Steemit?

in #steemit8 years ago

So the Chinese just got their very own copy-cat version of Steemit calle SteemChina.com, I've been told their just fans of the Steemit community and it was easier for them to make their own version (where everything is in their native language).

I recommend making different versions of Steemit for different languages, for example, it can be their own dedicated section or automatically translated website so they can use the original Steemit blockchain. The developers should go start making plans for this and language compatibility is very important in other social media sites.

Never sponsor fake stuff, always go for the original, plainly the best.

PS: Don't forget to spread the word and stay awesome! :)

Someone will create a very neat software called Steemtranslate that will automatically translate posts to whatever language of your choosing. Or maybe i will :D But yeah, there's that possibility. After all we're Steemit. We Steem our way to the top :D Very good post :)

Awesome, that sounds about right! :)
Thanks for the feedback.

If your using chrome you can always just right click and translate to English (or whatever your default language is).

Yeah that's true but its not that accurate and a lot of people use other explorers.

Unfortunately every translator has the same problems. They work good on some languages but are terrible on others.

Usually if I see a thread in another language I just skip over it. Plenty of other stuff to read.

Are people actually getting paid for their content on the Chinese website? I looked at it via Google Translate and I don't see any indication of people receiving cryptocurrency. It just looks like a regular old message board to me. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah me neither, I guess not their just causing disruption.

Maybe an efficient sort and follow would work on Steemit acceptably.
Many people want to follow at least two languages at once.

Yeah two languages at once might sounds nice.
