Hello. Today I would like to tell you about how you can protect your account or reduce the risks of hacking to a minimum.

Why in the title of the article I specified 95%, not 100? All because these 5% is a certain factor that does not depend on us. For example: mass hacking by steemit platform hackers or platform malfunction. But it doesn't matter, I want to tell you a few ways and give advice. So, let's begin.

Change password

Changing the password is one of the most important factors protecting your account. Because we use different services and constantly enter your password in your personal account, this can mean that your account is stolen. Therefore, it is very important to change your password at least once a month.

Using any steemit service or making a money transfer, you can accidentally indicate your main password from your account, so think through each of your actions.

And now I will demonstrate to you where and how to change your password.

Once you go to the password change page, you need to learn the basic rules for changing the password. You must enter your name and the old password and click on generate a new password and save it, preferably in several safe places.

Note: After writing the article, I immediately changed my password. I advise you to do the same :)

Domain name checking

It's no secret that attackers who want to hack your account use an exact copy of the site design and fake domain names. By inattention, we can lose our account in a second. After authorization on the fake site, the owners of this site will immediately change your password.

Now I will give you some facts on which you can recognize the fake steemit.

  • Missing SSL certificate. Your computer will recognize this as a suspicious connection.

Note: Steemit always has a secure connection.

  • The fake name of the site. You must pay attention to every letter in the domain name!

Note:

  • Safe site:
    s t e e m i t . c o m
  • Fake site:
    s t e e m ї t . c o m

As you can see, it's hard to spot a fake site, but it's made specifically to steal your account. Be careful!

  • Do not skip the suspicious links, this can also serve as a hacking of your account!

Posting key

Some people, using any service to promote their steemit account sometimes confuse the main password and posting the key. They enter it on any outside platform, thereby expose your account to hacking, passing by accident your password.

Enter only your posting key. It is located here

Note: If you change the main password, all others change.

Thank you all for attention, take care of your account!

Thank you so much. My rep number of 41 doesn't match the steemit board number if 46. You think I am being hacked? Joy

Thanks for the comment! I don't know, maybe the reputation went down because someone flagged your posts, maybe because of that. Better change your password
