My First Father's Day!

On January 31st of this year my daughter Oaklyn was introduced to the world. She weighed in a healthy 8 lbs and measured 19.5 inches long. A life changing event for my girlfriend and I that has already brought more joy into our lives than we could have ever imagined.
Father's Day this Sunday is sure to bring a lot of emotions as we will be celebrating the beautiful little addition to our family while I also remember my father who passed away a year ago at the young age of 59. He was far from perfect, but he was my dad. A bond that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
My father earned a living with his hands as a carpenter and he really enjoyed drawing, which he used to help with his depression later in life. Those same drawing skills weren't passed down to me, but I like to believe that he inspired the creative outlets I do enjoy such as photography. I'd like to share with you some of his drawings that we discovered in his art portfolio after he passed away.

Congratulations on your healthy daughter, and enjoy fatherhood the most that you can. New father here as well and it's been the most challenging two years of my life but mixed with so much love and joy as well, the kind that you will only find in the presence and devotion of your own child.
I can only imagine that fatherhood will continue to get tougher, but I'm definitely ready for the challenge. Enjoy your weekend with your family and Happy Father's Day!
