How big can Steemit actually get?

This is a question most of us have asked, i think it is safe to say that the majoriy of us see the potential Steemit has and therefore expect it to grow exponentially, i took a look at some numbers of social media sites like facebook and other social media platforms. The market is huge, im talking billions of users.

Facebook and Tumblr combined have a little over 2.5 Billion monthly users, most of us jumped right on Steemit from the moment we heard about it, why wouldn't you. I think that most people will, so in my opinion it's just a matter of time before alteast 5% of the users of Facebook and Tumblr will flock to Steemit.

If the 5% actually do cross over it will mean Steemit would have an extra 126 million users!

And in what kind of timeframe should we be thinking?

As you can see social media platforms grew super fast compared to tradional media, it think this will only get faster and faster. Everybody is more connected then ever , the devolpment of platforms and technology is at an alltime high so maybe Steemit wil grow even faster and bigger!

I certainly think its a good possibility and expect massive growth, what do you think? do you also think its going to pick up steem? let me know in the comments!

One thing that I think will be a barrier to entry is that the system has a lot of moving parts, so it will be difficult for people to understand.

At whatever point in time the goal is mass adoption, steem needs to focus on not trying to explain EVERYTHING about the platform, and just stick to clearly communicating the core benefits. "Social media with incentives."

It would also help to have content creators with large existing fanbases migrate over to steem.

Facebook is also quite difficult. log onto facebook and try and see it through the eyes of a newbie, theres heaps going on that is far more overwhelming than the initial steemit experience. To me; signing up, up-voting and creating content seems very simple here...

I Agree @maxip i didnt find steemit all to difficult, especially when someone allready has social media or blogging exprience i think users will feel at home pretty fast. It will definitely help if some big content creators would join @jbriggs and im sure it doesnt take long before the hope on the ''Steemtrain''

Sure there is a lot of potential because of the market size, which is good for Steemit. I think Steemit has a lot going for it because it seems to be one the first tech companies that has really implemented the blockchain technology properly. However we are still quite early in the process, and I think we will see some competitors to Steemit in the next few years. I'm not sure there will be just one "winner", because I feel there is room in the market for some different companies albeit they offer almost the same tech.

the next few years there will be competitors no doubt, but dont underestimate how quickly things can grow, especially if people who use Steemit now start promoting steemit with there friends en connections on for example Facebook. Dont get me wrong i agree that this is still an early stage but it looks really promising if you ask me

Yeah i agree with you, techs can grow really fast once they get the attention of the general population. I am definitely going to be one of Steemit's promoters, as I see it as a groundbreaking tech that can possibly revolutionize the media sector. Good work on the post. I'm following, and I look forward to the next one.

I totally agree with you, thanks alot , i appreciate that!
