Shanito's Mexican Grill - First food service to accept SBD in the Philippines (maybe the world?)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I haven't written a post on steemit in over a month. Considering at one point I wrote more than one per day that is quite out of character for me. So what has been keeping me busy you may ask? Well I've gone into business with several other steemians, all of which I met on Steemit, and we have started the most authentic and best tasting Mexican Grill restaurant in the Philippines.

Shanito's

shanitos3-wood.jpg

The name of the restaurant is Shanito's and we've only officially been in business and serving food to customers for three days now. The name comes from the names of the two original founders when the idea first formed: Shade as in @sasha.shade and Chinito as in @chinito.

How It All Started

Both @chinito and I are originally from the USA where Tacos and other Mexican Food are a staple of everyday life, but living in the Philippines with our beautiful wives @jazzybells and @haleyaerith. Taco Tuesday is pop-culture in America. Unfortunately, finding quality tacos and Mexican food in the Philippines is difficult to impossible.

In fact, I've only found one place that serves mexican food and tacos to the quality I expect here in the Philippines. Humorously enough, that place is a franchise of a popular mexican spot founded in my home-town in the USA. Unfortunately, there is only one location here in the Philippines and it's about an hour away from where I live, and extremely expensive, particularly taking into account transportation costs.

I end up spending about $50 for a meal that in the USA I'd only spend around $5-$10 for. Considering the Philippines is a 3rd world country, clearly these prices are extravagant and prohibitive to the majority of the population. Considering it's location I know that rent costs must be extremely high (it is in the highest-rent district in the country). The food also taste near identical to what I am used to back in my home-town, albeit with more rice and less meat. I assume based on that, and experience with other American franchises, that almost if not ALL the food must be imported, regardless of the fact that it could be locally sourced, made more fresh, and with the same/better flavor given proper training to the staff.

There Has To Be Something Better!

There wasn't. Everything we tried either lacked in quality, or had ridiculously high prices, while still lacking in authenticity. @chinito knew that I had a passion for Mexican food and am a particularly decent chef. Armed with that knowledge, we started to discuss the possibility of opening a restaurant for this glaring gap in the market; if not for the locals, then at the very least for the foreigners like us that miss quality tacos and Mexican food. Shanito's was born!

Terms & Starting the best Mexican Restaurant to hit the Philippines, ever.

After doing our market research we put together terms and setup our business plan. Both of us being members of Steemit and members of @teamphilippines, wanted to make sure we accepted both Fiat and SBD. What better way to spread steemit in the Philippines than to literally feed people based on their earnings? Particularly for the poor, this was key. We could provide high quality authentic food, and they'd be earning their entire payment from steemit! How great is that!

The Food

All of our food is made absolutely fresh, from the ground beef mixture, the Mexican rice, salsa, white Mexican queso, even the tortillas and chips! There is literally no other Mexican restaurant with our same quality standards around anywhere in the Philippines that we can find.

Here are our Peso and SBD delivery menus.

Our hope is that by accepting SBD that we will help to spread Steemit throughout the Philippines, and show that YES it does have monetary value to those new to crypto; and feed those that may not otherwise be able to afford food of this caliber.

We are still very new, having only officially been in business for three days, and would love to grow the company as quickly as possible. If you are interested in contributing to help us to be successful we would all be highly appreciative. You can send SBD/Steem direct to my account, or send BTC/Ethereum at the following addresses:

Thank you to all in advance for helping us with this initiative and we hope it will be a huge success, for Shanito's, feeding both the rich and the poor, and in spreading Steemit throughout the Philippines! Cheers!

Wow! I hope I can order. But I am from the province. :)

Which province? Maybe on your next trip to manila. It's really very delicious.

Absolutely amazing. When you told me you wanted to launch this business I thought it was a fantastic idea --- I can't wait to visit one day, and buy a round for you guys!

Looking forward to it man!

@sasha.shade and @chinito congratulations!!! don't forget that the "s" of that "Shanito's" reserved to me! ahahahaha

Im cravining some at the moment and definitely give it a try next trip when Im in Manila long enough. What we need to see now are some drooling food shots.

I look forward to serving you Chris! Stop by next time you're in Manila. Pics to follow.

1 order of everything please. Deliver it here in Quezon city. If it's late, it's free 😄

lol you're a bit outside of our delivery radius but hopefully sooner rather than later we'll have a location up there. There are quite a few steemians in QC that I've met.

I hope those taco shells aren't soggy - pet peeve of mine -.-

Btw where's the location?

they are not soggy. Harrison Plaza, Food Alley, Ground Floor, FB Harrison Street, Malate.

Excellent! Need to write some posts now to get some SBD to spend there. ^.^
