Alert: It's always a good thing to pay attention when you open an account on a site (even if it's a very known site!)

Sometimes it happens: you open an account on a site and you don't pay enough attention to every words in the contract. It happens. It's happened also to me and I'm feeling a little stupid too.

The fact:

sometimes ago, just few time after I started to blog on steemit, I read more about Streemian and so I decided to try to use their tools. They have also a bot service, but I never use this service because my choice to upvote manually the contents.

After the subscription on that site I forget it, because I don't use it more. It happens.

Now, I just see that thanks to that site (a very known service here) my upvote was used to upvote a post by an account that I don't know!!!! This is because when I opened my account there I don't read that they can use my upvote to promote their announcement (before these days they never used my upvote!!!) here ! As you can read in the comments there, this rude way was not appreciate.

This account (that is not the official account of streemian!!) is also in powering down, just to know!

As I wrote in one of my previous posts, I've always upvoted MANUALLY cause my choice and so now I'm feeling bad to know someone earn money from my upvotes and I didn't know it!

I don't want to know why or what it's happen, even if I think is a very shameless thing because nobody message me from the site to tell me about this, but sure, I immediatly revoked my post authority here:  https://v2.steemconnect.com/revoke/@streemian

I'm writing this post to everyone, like me, subscribed this site without read every single part of the contract!

Repeat with me: the next time I'll read everything before to say ok to a site!!! ^_^

I think there are many many people who don't know they are upvoted that post so I invite you to verified ;)

See ya soon

I was using Streemian, but I found my votes were going to posts I wouldn't want to support and so I stopped. Has it shut down now?

You can see all the votes here: https://steemd.com/streemian/@chainsquad/negotiations-succession-of-streemian-com-reactivation
You are on the list, so you would have to manually unvote

Thanks. Those are all 100% votes. More people need to know about this. That is actually controlled in the settings on their site. I've changed them to 0% for now. Will see if I can opt out totally. I'm getting away from automatic voting.

I think that once your vote is made you have already lost the voting power and you don't immediately get it back if you cancel it. I may be wrong.

I saw that my upvotes was used to upvote those posts just yesterday, when my hubby read about this in a chat and I immediatly unvoted those post manually and revoked the authority to steemian. This morning I received an email where they said the revoke was ok (fortunately, because I've never seen that there was the part of the site here I could adjust the % to support the announcement of the site and I also think that those posts, especially the post about the shut down of the site, were not to promote the service, but just to earn some more money )

I will have to read your links because I don't even know what this is. I am such a minnow and newb, I didn't know you can auto vote? I thought you go through, read things and if you like it you vote? What is auto vote? Am I doing it now? Who is getting it if I am? Oh so many quesitons.

I'm glad you posted this I shall have to investigate.

If you never used this site, don't worry. It happened that this site (it was a very know service on steemit because they has some interesting tools and also a bot to upvote contents. The issues was because one week ago they announced the shut down of the site and today they say the site will come back, 2 posts and they used the upvote of every accounts of the site . They can do it because in the terms of service they wrote they can use the upvote of every account to promote the announcement about the site. The part of the site where you can "adjust" this thing say that they use just rarely this option (and I've never see that part and I'm sorry for this), but they use one time 6 days ago to announce the closure and one today, using the 100% of our voting power, 2 times at week without any words to explain this to the users . It was really bad, because every user like me, that I'm not using the service of the site (it's not clear how to cancel the subscription) give the upvote knowing nothing.

Sometimes it happens: you open an account on a site and you don't pay enough attention to every words in the contract. It happens. It's happened also to me and I'm feeling a little stupid too.

This point concerns me too. I find it really difficult most times to read full instructions, terms and conditions before launching into the use of most sites that i have blogged with in order to save time sharp sharp which is really bad and in most cases turns out to something else as time goes on. I equally found myself using a bot service which i later regret and quickly opted out of its services. Out of ignorance sometimes we fail to understand the adverse reaction of the services of things we don't read instructions on how they work. Paying attention to each and every single word in the contract or terms and conditions is usually and extremely very important. Thanks for sharing this experience @silviabeneforti
I appreciate your follow and and kind gestures on my blog posts, thanks and never relent to drop by

I like your work here, you have a very nice "approach" to the community writing nice contents and comments, so it's a pleasure to follow you ^_^

Thank God I'm too stupid to pay attention to stuff like that!

It was a great lesson for me, dear friend. I never do this, promise ;)
