RE: Steemit Is In Danger Of Self Destruction. Why ReddCoin Could Win

in #steemit7 years ago

This is an honest question - how is Reddcoin different than older systems like Flattr or ChangeTip?

I'm not sure, I haven't heard of those. However ReddCoins market cap is around $30m at the moment so there is a fair bit of investor confidence in them. Having said that the price has also dropped significantly from its all time high but it seems steady now. Just the concept seems more scalable in the long term. Another consideration is that I don't think there is anything to stop someone developing a bitcoin or lightcoin tipoing mechanism instead which could compete. I'm just sharing some ideas and looking to hear yours back :)

Flattr is a way to tip people for their content, embeddable via javascript widget. It doesn't use cryptocurrency as a backing though (also not sure if it's still around, TBH). ChangeTip was similar, allowing people to tip each other via Twitter, Github comment, blog comments, etc, and was backed by Bitcoin. But they shut down. :(
