RE: Join This Effort to Support STEEM

in #steemit6 years ago

I think it is because STEEM Inc has a "Field of Dreams" attitude towards the effort. Meaning that they just think they build it and the rest will just naturally happen. Regulations have a part to do with that. STEEM Inc just wants to deal with software development of STEEM and really nothing else so they don't have to deal with regulations. Let the system be a free market.

That would work if there were no competition. The only other people that have a say are the witnesses. I think it is time to dangle a carrot in front of them to get them to do some work that supports STEEM currency on exchanges. The key is to make that carrot large enough for them to go after it.

That is why I need everyone's help. A witness is paid from another pool of STEEM to create blocks in the STEEM blockchain. That pool is different from our reward pool. Witness need witness votes. The more witness votes they have, the more they get paid for creating blocks.

If we combine our witness votes together, then we can influence witnesses to get work done other than just running a node.

Will you join us? All I need is a promise that you will use your witness vote on a witness that gets the job done. It costs noting, does not affect your voting power, and does not affect your rewards. It is totally free to vote for witness with a witness vote. You also have 30 of these witness votes. You can undo a witness vote at any time. I will take care of alerting you if a witness does the work and give instructions.

I can definitely look into it. I've heard about witnesses, but I'm still not sure exactly what they are. What resource would you say is best to learn about witnesses?

Good thing you ask. I wrote an article covering it

Super cool. Kind of reminds me of how EOS works. Yeah if someone can get Steem on some exchanges where you can actually trade for fiat instead of getting Bitcoin and then fiat, I'll definitely vote them as a witness. I want Steem to grow and prosper, and I see a lot of content creators here with a decent amount of published work, but almost no Steem Power. It's sad, dumb, and ultimately counter-productive. I represent Rainier Avenue Radio, a local radio station in Seattle WA, and I'm looking to bring our audience to the Steem network. We produce talk, music, and comedy shows every week by the ton, and I think that regularity and professionalism is really going to help Steem out. If you'd like to collaborate further I'd love to work with you.

That is a tall order. Most exchanges only use Bitcoin or Ethereum as the primary trading pair. In order to do that, someone will just have to start their own exchange. My goal is to get STEEM and SBD on many exchanges in the hopes that some are multilingual. That is the problem we face right now. SBD is not on a multilingual exchange. That hurts Steemit because where are people going to exchange SBD earnings if they don't speak English or Korean? The only option is the local market with ridiculously low volume or BlockTrades with high fees. Once we expand access to the world, then Steemit will take off. Steemit is more complex than a normal social media network. In order for Steemit to be all inclusive like other social media platforms, the currency must also be all inclusive and accessible.

So I will put you on my list of participant. Thank you.
