Unlimited Content Editing is Coming!

in #steemit6 years ago

That is right. In the very near future, you can edit your content past the 7 day period.

The 7 day limit is in place because most content receives votes in the first week. It was though that this would be sufficient. Well that is changing with release of Steem software (v0.19.10).

Looks like Steemit will get the change, but other apps will have to implement the change to their front-end.

When will we get the ability to update posts?

will be deployed to steemit.com after a sufficient number of witnesses have updated.

Well,... however long that takes.

I don't think we will have to wait too long. Check periodically if you get an edit button on your content that is older than 7 days.

I hope you enjoyed reading my Blog. Please remember to Upvote, Resteem, and Follow. Thank you.

Greetings @socky and @senseicat...

First question that comes to my novice mind is:

Why would one want to edit past the 7-days?

Lol...Okay, the real question is:

Does this extend/refresh the 7-day payout?

A case and point example would really help the visual learners in the audience...

Many thanks.

Peace.

Hi there @spiritualmatters. There is just socky here.

  1. Embarrassing spelling errors or anything else that is in error.

  2. This does not extend the 7-day payout. Apparently unlimited payout duration will allow infinite amount of transactions which would kill scalablility. It can be done however through other means. It just has not been invented yet.

Aha!..I guess if one actually came across an archived post it would be good to be able to 'edit' it; though, I'm not sure I'm a fan of this. Once I upvote a post, I'd hate to think someone could go in and write a totally different 'opinion' piece, contrary to the post I approved of.

I know that's unlikely; and, that it's all on the blockchain; but, everyone, well most people might agree that once it reaches payout, it's pretty much a wrap. That said, it's good to know changes are in the works to make Steemit better; dispelling rumors that it might be replaced.

Best regards.

Peace.

Nice information

I just read it yesterday and I feel pretty happy about it. I think this is a step in the right direction for making Steemit suitable for a wider audience.

Yes, more user friendly. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Nice to see your post!Thank for your share!
@lkvictor2005

GOOD NEWS in steemit. It will be a metamorphose in steemit. Anyway I want to ask you to make sure.
if we edit our post which older than7 days whether mean will be a new post. so whether it can be used as a repost?
Does not that mean invite @cheetah and @steemcleaner?

Thank you @socky
Thank you Steemit.

Warm regard from Indonesia

Thanks for the welcome from Indonesia. My guess is that cheetah only checks new posts and then searches for anything of similar content. I believe SteemCleaner requires someone to report abuse.

I think with editing and update it become new post, and then ita can be an object of cheetah. Because if we watch on steemd, for example it said
rokhani authored apost, although it was an edit or update the post.
Anyway this step will need time for application in steemit.

greeting

Perfectly logical point.

I just guess and think rational.

Thanks for the very important information to know. @socky

I think it is a good thing. You do not want an error or a typo to survive forever in the cyberspace.

It is the really bad errors that we want fixed and the typos that make me look ridiculous.

@socky That's a great move by steemit. You don't need to worry about typos/mistakes done in steemit. Go back and change. :D

I know. I make plenty of mistakes. :D
