Warning Someone is Creating Fake Exchange Accounts on Steemit (SCAM ALERT)

in #steemit7 years ago

I am the first to report this issue.

Someone is making accounts that are similar to Steemit Exchange accounts. Here is the list of accounts created in the last hour. I'm sure that there are more to come.

I'm sure the intention is to have these accounts names similar so that someone could make a transfer to an exchange with a typo and send the currency to the scam account.

Someone is creating these accounts for free and they are getting through the Steemit approval process.

If you know how to report this to STEEM Inc, please do so.

Thanks For The Warning!!! Fellow Steemers' Beware!

Thats lame! I am so paranoid, so I always go n follow the correct account prior to sending, to see the following status when typing in the receiver :)

Here is a new one crated 4 minutes ago @huobi-proo

Wow not sure i thought i ran across one of these i'll be careful thanks.

Thanks for this valuable report @socky

One needs to be very careful, befor engaging in a transfer. Check and double check, before any transfer, if possible triple check. We can never be too careful. Thanks again.

Thanks for the information @socky. You contribution to the steemit community is enormous. But how can we know that accounts are fake?

It is fake because the exchange doesn't need another account. Also they are misspelled.

The fact that multiple different accounts for exchanges were made at the same time. Clearly it is the same person. What needs to be done is for STEEM Inc to alert the exchanges for these accounts to identify them as fraud. Hopefully the exchanges will freeze the accounts if any transfer takes place from these addresses.

but for now just be careful and always double check

What on earth is wrong with these, senpais? Do they really think someone would fall for this amateurish trick? Okay, maybe someone would... Anyway, it seems that some people would do anything to get some easy cash. Slimy bastards. Good things that you found them quickly @socky -senpai. Way to go! Resteemed for visibility.

Thanks for the info, very important to know
