Stop encouraging that...

I've always denied this kind of behavior... And you know why? It's not healthy, for either of the sides... [To be noted, I am not talking here about charity], but whether it's "resteem", "share" or "like", it's not healthy if you actually want people to read your thoughts.

Tell me, what is the point? You follow X, X follows you back, and neither of you gives a shit about what the other one is writing. And don't confuse that with the very well known "like and subscribe" from youtube, cause there is different thing. On youtube you have another level of connection through eyes and tone of voice especially, above the pretty images. But here... Here it's about writing. It's either a good subject or not.

From the moment someone asks for a follow back, the chances of you getting a follow by me drops below 20%. You've got to have some really good subjects on there to get over the pathetic "plz follow back".

I say this again, IT'S NOT HEALTHY FOR THE COMMUNITY. This is how the real value of the word "follower" (and the number near it for that matter) drops significantly in value.

I will finish with an imagination exercise for you:

Imagine you are on the stage, and you have 50 people who look at you and absorb every word you say, and contest it, and bring arguments, and make the whole thing much more interesting.

Now, imagine you are on the same stage, you have 2000 people in front of you, but 1950 of them just have their eyes on the phone and don't give a shit about what you're saying on stage.

Have a good one!

Follow me back haha jokes! This is so true, what's the point of having followers for the sake of it? I'd rather have 5 who really like what I have to say than 50 just to look good on social media...

@vftg12 Looks like people don't agree... They just prefer to keep the old "system"... and that is why nothing changes ever regarding self promotion behavior...

I was just writing about this the other day! You said it so much better than me lol :)
It's so annoying when people say that, and I go to their page and they are following 12000 people. What's the point man. They aren't looking for real, genuine connections with other humans, they are looking for $$$.

Which is actually pretty sad considering that this money hunger transforms a vast mass of people into mindless heartless monkeys ready to give up on whatever little self respect they have left.

I am ok with someone trying to make money as long as they are legit; as long as they don't try to cheat the system (which sometimes is ok if the system is abusive... but even then, who is X to decide the system is abusive)...
