Solar Eclipse compared to the last one

in #steemit7 years ago

So, most of you know that today was the solar eclipse. I wanted to see it, but learned looking at it would actually permanently damage your eyes and needed special glasses to view it. I thought, well that sounds stupid. But in the end, i wasn't able to view it for myself. :c You may also know that it only occurs every 100 years! Isn't that amazing? Now granted you only get to experience this only once in your lifetime, it truly is amazing. I wondered what was the solar eclipse like 100 years ago. I had questions such as did they expect it, or how did they prepare for it? Ive actually found a video relating to my question.

I actually read a little about how solar eclipse come to be. In order for a solar eclipse to happen, the size of the moon would have to be the exact size of the sun which coincidently, its the perfect size to cover it up. Although its likely i won't ever see it again in my lifetime, it was cool that a rare phenomen happened today!
