Steem Verify 2.0

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

We're Back!

Hello everybody! My name is Dalton (@dalt), and I am now Steem Verify's main developer. The service is no longer undergoing maintenance and I've got a lot of changes to announce.

For starters, we are no longer handing out verified badge images. It was a flawed system. Instead we are now using an API (more on that later).

Our verification requirements have changed:

Please visit SteemVerify.com to read about our new requirements.

There is a lot of custom Steemit clients. Such as Busy.org and eSteem. I thought it would be cool if we had an open API so that custom Steemit clients can show verified badges on profiles.

API documentation is available here.

If you'd like to apply for Steemit verification visit SteemVerify.com

We are not endorsed by Steemit and aren't an official Steemit service. Steem Verify is a project maintained by community members who saw a need for verification in this community.

Thanks for the infos!

I am not that keen about having my face as avatar. It's not about my identity, I wouldnt mind sharing that. It is more of an "artistic issue". Im not that ugly, but I want to keep my avatar Shadow with German sunglasses :D.

I have a youtube channel "ThatGermanView" with my voice all over it, can I somehow verify with that? I also wouldnt mind sending my private info (including photo) to a Steemit official as email.

Oh ok, that's no biggy then. Thought you would have to keep it as your avatar forever. :D Thanks for the fast response!

Oh, I did not know that. I think verify is a good thing to protect Steemit from troll and spam accounts. I appreciate your effort!

What if you are that ugly and cameras malfunction at the sight of you?

I was not attacking @thatgermandude but merely referring to him talking about NOT being ugly so do not be afraid to publicly answer my question.

If anybody is curious I sat awake for 9 hours coding all of this. 😱

I want to support steemverify, I used it back in the day to get this badge..

But forcing users to put a photo of their (or someone they're impersonating's) face public on the blockchain seems like a bad idea that will turn people away.

I mostly bought it in the first place just to reward someone being creative with steganography , so its a shame to see the badges dissapear..

If someones verification photo has to be made public anyway, what incentive is there to pay you $5 for your service?

tfw when qa backstabs the dev...

lol...no,no just working on some kinks.

sry mate, meme too strong :D

Hi @ausbitbank , we can work with you. You've always been a trooper through things.

Edit: Going to message you more details.

How do you verify that my picture is my picture and not some cleverly photoshopped image? Does that picture have to come sided with a verified legal ID?

Is this service of potential use other than att. wh*res attempting to prove that "dat ass" is theirs?

is this ever coming back? http://steemverify.com/
