I don’t know much about steem, but this little I know - Steemit is going no where
With the current value of crypto currencies taking a dip, coupled with the on-going challenges here at steemit, it is easy to get discouraged conclude that steemit is a failed experiment. Indeed, I have been reading in the last few months, about how steemit is bound to fail.
Well, to all of you prophets of doom, this much I will tell you, Steemit is going now where! Whether or not you believe me is irrelevant. The facts remain.
Let us look back
a) To the advent of Social media
One can correctly say that Social media is to the 21st what television was to the 20th century. When it first came in 2004, social media immediately revolutionized our way of life, our means of sustenance. It ensured that from worlds apart, we could now connect easily, quickly and more conveniently than we were previously able with the telephone, the radio and the television.
The likes of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and other now popular messaging platforms, continue grow at astonishing speed, infiltrating and dominating new markets, especially of the developing world. This has of course been helped by daily increasing access and reliability of internet services, as well as the proliferation in smartphone phone use.
Unlike in the olden days, you now don’t have to walk miles to get and pay for internet services a café, but can easily access them on your phone.
b) The block chain and the second revolution.
Until only recently, that was the order of things, until the concept of the block chain, and crypto currency was born, or is it, finally successfully nurtured. And another even more powerful and as is proving, disruptive technology, trend took root.
Now crypto currency is leading another revolution, that in the currency and economic industry, as coins are daily being mined to meet several human and sectorial needs, including health.
Steem is two in one
The steam ideas fruited from a merger of the two concepts, namely, of social media, and then of the block chain. Now we have an incentivized social media content driven platform built on the blockchain.
This is of course a game changer, in as much as some want to discredit, it as a failed experiment, because of the glitches steemit is going through.
How is it a game changer?
Previously social media platforms such as Facebook did manage to accommodate interactions and sharing of content, but still has given the whole concept a more organic and powerful appeal. Its transparent incentivization system, that rewards not just content creation, but also content curation (in effect both writers and readers) has redefined the social platform media industry.
One can only conclude that, steem, despite the challenges it is currently facing, will be around for as long as it gets.
And you know why, because it is singly, accomplishes what other social media platforms are capable of, plus what the block chain is capable of. That is two in one.
You are obviously a great supporter of steem. And you here state the case in its defence as well as can be understood.
I share your thoughts. Steemit, with its incentive based structures, is a the exemplar of hat social media platforms should be. else, why create content when you won't get even a penny from it?
