RE: ★ Back after 2 years break / Thoughts ★

Welcome back! The biggest change in that time is a shift away from buying votes. Curators get 50% of the rewards now, so they do not need to be paid to vote, although some still operate that model. We are seeing more good content making it to trending, but it will never be perfect. The good content is there to be found and a lot of good people have stuck with it through some tough times. Steem is on the rise right now, so you may have picked a good time.

I think that change was really necessary, I like that. Because when I left, Steemit was crowded with these bots for upvoting and it was just really weird. It was actually one of the reason why I left. It was only a race onto upvoting. Really annoying.
I came back for the people here, I met some really cool ones back then and I wanted to know what happened to them :)
And there was no doubt, that Steemit itself had developed further. Interesting times ahead!

Steem is still evolving and I hope it can keep growing. I had hoped we would have far more active users by now. I don't agree with all the changes people want such as reducing the power down time even more. It is good that vote buying plays less of a part now, but some people still milk the remaining bots for profit and I help out in removing ill-gotten rewards so the community loses less.

Stick around for a wild ride ;)
