I grew up on the east coast in Connecticut and while it was only a train ride away to New York City I hardly visited the city in my youth. About 12 years ago I moved to California and hardly find myself going back long enough to make a big trip out of it. However, this past year I have been back 3 times so far to attend a few weddings and visit my family. Connecticut is beautiful, but to me very flat. Not to mention living in San Francisco and Los Angeles the suburban life really has no appeal to me anymore at this stage in my life so I tend to get very stir crazy sitting around at my parents, eating food, drinking beer and watching the Mets continually get pummeled -- after about 3 days of this I am ready to board my plane back to LA.
Back in May knowing I was going to be at my parents for 5 days I decided to add some NYC to my life and booked a hotel in the Chelsea district. The weather was still way cooler than I had grown accustomed too in Southern California so I packed as many layers as I could knowing I really wanted to head to Brooklyn Bridge Park for sunrise. My first morning in the city was early; 3am early. I grabbed all my camera gear, put on a ton of layers, and boarded a subway to Brooklyn. After walking some lonely streets by myself I set up down by the rocks at the old pier and took some photos of the view I had that morning.
Below are a couple of the shots I used to blend my photo, but I used the majority of the 45 shots I took to emphasize the amount of cloud movement I saw from my vantage point. Clouds seem to move very fast on the east coast compared to the west and the action was mesmerizing.

Amazing photos, my jaw just unhinged after checking the rest of your work on your website. However it's a damn shame that Steemit lacks a way to enlarge photos to view them in their full glory. Hope this feature comes soon...
Keep taking great shots and keep Steemin'
Thank you Shaz! I have most of my work on Instagram, which does it no justice either. But I also uploaded it to Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/6o3q9t/early_morning_in_the_city_that_never_sleeps/ and now that I enlarge it I just noticed a crap ton of dirt on my sensor :(

That is a really good shot. By the time you took this photo, what was the time?
I like the long exposure here and it looks really good.
@travelingtaka this is actually a series of photos that I used to combine and make one. I would venture to guess I was there for about an hour, hour and a half.
Amazing picture.
